Heya!

Here's a short lick to familiarize yourself with fretted harmonics. With this technique, we can play harmonics for any note on the fingerboard !

Sound

I use the bridge pickup in this example to get a "crystal" tone and the Mesa Boogie V-Twin preamp on the clean channel with some reverb added in Pro Tools.

Theory

While the left hand is fretting notes in the usual way, use the index finger of the right hand you execute a "soft touch" on a string which is exactly 12 frets above the note you are fretting. You can pluck the string with your thumb or a pick held between the thumb and the middle finger.
