Before I get into the main part of my post, I’ve got a little bit of advice. It’s been a particularly difficult week. Practice was a real struggle, as real life tends to get in the way! As you will know, it’s hard to switch into gear, with lots of things working on your mind. However, as these things do, it’s got past it’s low point, and we’re back on track. So if your practice schedule gets disrupted by excrement making physical contact with a hydro-electric powered oscillating air current distribution device, don’t panic.

I’ve recently been trying to learn Paul Gilbert’s “Technical Difficulties”, (I know, it’s a bit ambitious). So when Muris posted a Paul Gilbert style lesson, I was instantly trying it out, looking to to find the licks that would help me. Through my initial practice I found a weakness in my technique, that I need to take care of. This time it’s my left hand.

Just over two years ago, a strange Swedish guitarist made a statement in a forum. He said “I have no talent at all, you can beat me with hard work“. I’m unsure if anyone has tested him on this, but I’m willing to step up to the plate and have a go.
