Hello There

I'm a girl from Hong Kong, aged 20. Been introduced to guitar playing for half a year but never really got serious, until summer came around and I decided to see how far I can go. I've gone through the beginner's lessons so far and I'd say they're easy to follow, maybe because some of the skills introduced there I had already come across before, and now I wonder where I should go next.

My favourite band is Funeral for a Friend- it'd be cool to be able to play some guitar like that. I used to like Blink-182 too, some punk rock and stuff like that. I guess my biggest problem now is I always don't know which finger to use and how to move them around the fretboard. I can get really confused with that sometimes.

So, any suggestions?

Barre Chords...

I'm a girl- it's probably no excuse but I do find it pretty hard to press my index finger on all 6 strings at one time and let it all ring perfectly. I try my best to use the side of my finger, and things do get easier if I'm just pressing my index against all strings instead of really doing a chord (with other fingers on the strings too), since that way I can exert more force on the index. Is there anything I can do to really succeed in pressing a perfect barre chord?
