Bad Picking Habits That I Have Devoloped And I Need Help Breaking It

I learned economy picking for 3 note per string scales and a few other things and i really regret it. I don't economy pick anything descending. only ascending when i go from low to high. I really notice my self doing it a lot with normal diatonic scales and some licks. I used to be really good at speed picking up and down the fretboard ascending descending and some string skips, but i have really slowed since i got my right hand used to economy on the ascending scales and licks and i try so hard to break it but i can't seem to get over it. I highly suggest strict alternate picking to people now unless you really know what you are up against. Any ideas or lessons that i should review or practice? i really need this.
