It's a great honour for us GMC members that a famous guitar player like Marcus has become our new instructor! I am also grateful for our 'old' great instructors and I do not forget what they did and do for us! But maybe you think of a well-known guitar player that you would like so much to see as an instructor on GMC? For me it would be Dan Auerbach from the Black Keys! Kris, please lead him to the GMC!

Hi! I understand that one of the best ways to expand your musical knowledge and train your ears is to transcribe songs. I am working on Deep Purple's Highway Star and have some questions for instructors and all the experienced on transcribing songs
1. Are rock guitar solos generally played in the same key as the whole song (for example if the song is in G minor, is the solo most probably played using G minor scale?). 2. Do you sometimes slowen guitar solos to find the right notes? A fast solo is just a burst of notes that are hard to separate one from another (at least for me). If yes what kind of software do you use? 3. Does it help to write your transcriptions? Do you use guitar pro for that? 4. To what extent a person who is generally able to sing a melody but gets 'lost in transcription' can improve their hearing abilities? Considering that they're almost thirty Any answers and general tips on the art of transcription will be appreciated Maciek

Hi! My name is Maciek, I come from Poland. I subscribe to this site for a year now. I am doctor and work a lot in hospital and at university, but always try to steal 1-3 hours per day for playing guitar. Starting from almost zero, thanks to GMC I made considerable progress on guitar although I know it’s still the beginning and there’s yet so much to achieve. As I was concentrating mainly on practice I didn’t participate in discussions and activities on GMC forum. Now I wanna change it as I am a huge fan of this site and great friendly atmosphere here! I believe that with your help and advice I will move further on with my playing. Best regards, Maciek.
