I am just starting out with ear training. I got some pretty cool software for it (EarMaster for PC and Karajan for iPod Touch). After several days of practicing I faced some problems. Hope somebody can help me out.

1) Karajan plays intervals starting from random root note. I get very confused by it, since I found myself thinking in the key of a previously given pair of notes, so it takes some time for me to switch to a new key. The question is this: does it make sense to start practicing intervals from the same root note or I just need to continue to accommodate to the "root switching"?

2) Are there any particular intervals I should focus on in the beginning?

Thats it for now smile.gif

BTW, has anyone tried Gary Willis training course for guitar and bass players? Does it work?
