Many years ago, I was playing guitar at home, bent a string and it happened that the 1st string broke in the same time in both nut and bridge, and the string just fell over my left hand huh.gif

And no one believed me unsure.gif

p.s. It was a war time and we did not have a thing called 'new strings' so I had to play one set for few years, so it is not a wonder that it happened biggrin.gif

These FBV devices are just foot controllers for PODs and LINE6 AMPS, they are not really the audio interfaces like UX1 smile.gif

Dynamic mic needs a lot of pressure on its membrane to produce a sound, so it is not so appropriate for low volume instruments, rather for amps or some loud acoustic instruments like trumpets.

On the another side, condenser mic has more sensitive membrane and can record even a whisper, or a background noise, and it is great for acoustic guitars, but you need to have a well isolated and acoustically treated room to get good results.

I can suggest you one thing, if your acoustic guitar has a solid wood top, to try some transducers. I use "Belcat EGT 202 double transducer", and I am quite pleased with them smile.gif

No, it's like...one part looks to close, the other looks to far away.

This is strange, if the neck is evenly bowed it can be fixed with trust rod adjustment.. but if the neck is warped it is not cheap to repair, but anyway you can ask some other tech for opinion if possible

From the 6th fret back, they look to close to the fretboard and it starts to grow higher after the 6th fret

Did you press down at the last fret as well, does it looks evenly growing higher from both sides in the middle of the neck?

If you press the 6th string on first and the last fret, is there any distance between strings and frets in the middle of the fretboard?

For that money you can get a decent acoustic guitar.

The only recommendation I can give you is that the guitar should have a solid top, not a laminate. Guitars with solid tops sound much better.

Visit your guitar shop and try all guitars in that price range and see which one will be the best for you smile.gif

You spotted well, I did play on one place two consecutive strokes with index finger, by mistake, sorry if I created a trouble for you this way. Similar to techniques with pick we have alternate and economy picking, it is important to master first the alternate, and later on to introduce economy, since alternate picking gives more control on timing. This is why I wish you to focus on alternate technique smile.gif

You are welcome, and would be glad to help you anytime smile.gif

I am glad you're having fun with the lesson and I'll do my best to help you here smile.gif

As I see in the video, your rest stroke is just fine, just keep on imitate like this wink.gif , it is visible that you make effort to play it but over time it will became effortless. Pay attention when you move on the lower string to alternate index and middle fingers, not to play two strokes with the same finger.

Tremolo technique requires practicing, try this: set metronome to 80 bpm and play each note of the tremolo with each beat (or even slower, it is important that you play it easily), and then gradually increase the tempo. In this way it is less likely to play outside the tempo and it will help you to build the technique. Later on you can set the tempo that one beat correspond the four strokes, and at the time your timing will be correct.

Regarding nails, try to shape your nails to prevent hooking, they do not have to be too big, it is enough to have them slightly above the flesh to catch the strings. But as I said, keep on imitating me and keep the nails parallel to the strings.

Overall it sounds good, and I must admit that you have a good sensibility for music. You can feel it very well, but the technique is still preventing you to achieve the full potential so it is just a matter of practice. Another-words, you know how it should be played but your fingers are not obeying you completely.

I hope I answered the questions, if you need any additional help feel free to ask smile.gif

It means that you had only your gramophone or tape recorder, will and persistence. The only weapon was -your ear !

I remeber that time well smile.gif

Did also that 45 on 33 tricks as well, but mostly I was using the method of recording to dictaphone in SP mode and then playing it in LP mode to slow it down. If I remeber well a song that was originaly in A was transposed to G smile.gif

But now, all kinds of aids are available to learn songs, and ofcourse they shoud be used, but one should not rely completely on them. smile.gif

QUOTE (yoncopin @ Oct 1 2009, 03:38 PM) *
I have been practicing a lesson lately with a full step bend on fret 22 of the high E string. Does anyone have advice on how to get a good lasting note? I usually sound muted and the note has little to no sustain. Any tips on how to practice this?

Do you have a good sustain if you don't bend on that 22nd fret? Sometimes there is less sustain in high frets where neck is attached to the body (This is why Ibanez JEMs have scalloped last four frets).

Another thing is to check if the string is touching the neighboring fret, as Emir and Ivan already mentioned smile.gif
