* Jam with me - you will find active collabs here.

* Post a topic on this board, guitar related or not - doesn't matter! You will find that chatting with instructors boosts your motivation to practice.

* You haven't missed my latest video lessons, have you?

* Oh and did you know that to become a killer guitarist you just need to focus on one thing? Everything
else is secondary. Pm me and I will explain.

Well, I got two 10s for the BB take, not too bad for a start, heh? laugh.gif

I decided to throw in a little bass practice yesterday (as you have seen), but now I am back with the Pillar lesson. Stay tuned for another take wink.gif

Ready and waiting my friend wink.gif

Hey Christian! Nice! NICE! Tight and in time! The only two important aspects would be:

- the tone should have more gain and be a little bit less fuzzy, what sort of device are you using for the tone and what settings?
- the part from 0:58 needs more definition and tightness!

Otherwise it's DEAD on! Let's set the tone straight get tightness on the last part, pump everything up to speed and get that 10! GO GO GO!! biggrin.gif

Thanks Cosmin biggrin.gif

For this take I used a preset in Overloud TH1, for the other take I used a Guitar Rig 4 preset...so if you happen to use any of that software I'd be glad to get your tone settings wink.gif
Of course I can also mess around with the presets myself...what would you suggest? More gain and more treble?

Mate, I have no experience with those but, the tone lacks punch sad.gif

For instance my settings (on the AMT SS20) would have the scooped mids (or almost scooped) and bass around 10 o clock, highs around 1 o clock and gain about 1-2 o clock. Try these and see what you get, if they don't work so well, we'll figure something out, k?

Hey Cosmin,

just a short update: I practiced the lesson this week and will post a new take at full speed tomorrow. I was messing around with the tone a bit and hopefully found something better now biggrin.gif

See you in the chat!

Hey Christian! MUCH MUCH MUCH better! Still, you could improve on the tightness of the execution and fret the notes more - I don't know how to tell you this exactly as I don't have words for it but, think of it as a left hand exercise - somehow you have to create flow by linking the notes better - there are teeny tiny gaps here and there which eat up the flow.

Punch in A BIT more gain and you can be there, c'mon !! This can be a 10!!! Work with me, k? biggrin.gif

Hey Christian! Why the big rush my friend? smile.gif The take before this one was way better - your timing was not so good and the tightness as well. Am I getting the impression you were in a hurry to record? smile.gif

Take a look at both of the takes and you'll notice you have more flow, tightness and better timing on the previous one. Hmmmm - take a break with this one. A day off from it will help settling down. Try another take with your mind fresh from the lesson. I'm curious to see the results wink.gif no fear, we'll nail the 10!

Ha, just realized you changed the name of the topic...I wonder what you mean by bass training!? tongue.gif

Yeah, about the take: I just wanted to record it and make it perfect yesterday, but the smart part of me realized after three horrible attempts I just didn't have it in me that day. However, the bigger part (let's call it german part laugh.gif ) said "try again...and again...another one!"
I just overplayed it yesterday, so I'll leave this lesson for today and try to record a new take tomorrow. Maybe during Ben's chat, he won't realize when I sneak away for a few minutes wink.gif
Seriously, when I realize during the first three attempts that it won't work I'll just stop in the future biggrin.gif
Maybe I'll play some bass instead today wink.gif

Sure thing wink.gif there are all sorts of days man - if I feel I'm not good that day, I'll just go do something else smile.gif they next day, chances are I'll have lots more energy than before and inspiration will come along as well wink.gif

Tell me, what else do you plan on tackling? Or would you like me to make a recommendation? biggrin.gif

I'm sure you have a recommendation, don't you? wink.gif

But I really liked the drop tuning riffing stuff so far and I wanna get better at writing my own stuff in drop tuning, so we should go down that road a bit further. And a little bass exercise wouldn't hurt as well laugh.gif
