So i thought i'd make a small contribution and ask if anyone else listens to ska. This genre is important to me as its the genre that really got me into music. I can also point you in the direction of some good bands and songs if you don't know any.
Never heard of this before....
Post a youtube link or something
Streetlight Manifesto's cover of Kaesby Night is one of my favorite songs of all time. I'm still kind of iffy about ska since Im looking for bands with a happy sound to it. Ehh, Im sure when I hit my ska phase again, I'm gonna look for more bands.
I like No Doubt and Rancid.. These bands (used to) have roots in Ska but they combine it with punk and pop... This is a very interesting style to be covered in a lesson.
Although it seems a very simple music style, actually ska guitar players plays usually very right hand demanding rhytmic chords, thus it has to be practiced IMO. Some lessons about it would be very fine

I would appreciate some lessons as well. I'm not good enough to give lessons, but i can give some pointers for those interested;
A good starting point is reggae as they both use skanks, (thats the name i was taught for the quick upwards jab, honest. ) see Gabriels lesson http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/rhythm-guitar/reggae-style-lesson/
( good job by the way) if you were to speed this up you would get the ska style.
Very frequently its the first four strings used for chords, but you can barre for a fuller sound.
In terms of tone, you want your guitar as bright as possible, so lots of trble almost no mids and about 5 for the bass maybe a bit more, oh and turn to the brightest pickup.
I love ska and ska-punk. Reel Big Fish's cover of take on me is miles better than the original. Except for them I also like Ska-P, USCB Allstars, early Millencolin stuff and off course the mighty mighty bosstones!
For those of you new to Ska go and check out the "Godfather of Ska":-
Ernest Ranglin! (He's credited as having invented the Ska rhythm)
I've been lucky enough to see him live a few times and he blows me away every time!!!
Last time I saw him was at a Festival last summer. He landed in London the night before jammed with a backing Band that he'd never met before, cam to the Festival and played the best Set I've ever seen him play!
I like Ska to some point. My producer play keyboards in a Ska band, but some time it's to much for me.
I'm not a huge fan of Ska, but i really like Reel Big Fish
I love me some ska.
/Fishbone is one of my favorite bands.
I love Ska. Some of my fave bands are No Doubt, Rancid, Fishbone, Reel Big Fish, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Goldfinger, Less Then Jake, Save Ferris, and Sublime.
Yay! , and this aint no ska, but it is awesome... love the bagpipes or whatever it is:D
