New Guitar Options

So a month or 2 ago I purchased a Schecter Loomis 7 string, my very first 7 string. Man I was so excited, it was a great playing guitar. I was impressed that it was easy to learn how to play with the extra string and so on. But.. Then after about 2 weeks I came to realize I played it a handful of times and I still picked up my Gibsons for everything else. Then 2 weeks ago I replaced m Explorer pickups with the EMG JH set and I never even looked at the 7 string again. So I learned that tho a 7 sounded like a great idea, it wasn't for me.

Sooo, yesterday was payday and I figured I'd take a gander at Guitar Center. Well I walk in looked at some guitars and you know how it goes they all seemingly look the same. I look up and bam! There she was, all cute staring at me. Needless to say I'm broke for 2 weeks and I'm happy for it! My newest addition at the loss of my 7 string.



An Ibanez s770pb with a natural flat finish. So far I enjoy everything about the guitar but the pickups. Which I'm thinking either Evos or a Crunch Lab / LiquiFire combo.

I got the chance to handle an s770pb not long ago. I am entirely jealous of you right now. Enjoy that guitar! The one I played had zero adjustments made to it and it felt AMAZING. All I can say is how much I love the overall feel of the guitar. I was testing it more for the feel as opposed to the tone since I planned on putting in some Bareknuckle pickups. Kudos on the wise selection! In my opinion, it is a far superior guitar to any Schecter.

I got the chance to handle an s770pb not long ago. I am entirely jealous of you right now. Enjoy that guitar! The one I played had zero adjustments made to it and it felt AMAZING. All I can say is how much I love the overall feel of the guitar. I was testing it more for the feel as opposed to the tone since I planned on putting in some Bareknuckle pickups. Kudos on the wise selection! In my opinion, it is a far superior guitar to any Schecter.

My friend owns a s620 and I remember hating it when he got it with a passion, because it kept slipping on me as I played sitting down. He didn't have a strap for it, plus it wasn't setup at all. Well our one friend set it up, put some evo pickups in it and that thing rocks!

It was this or a Jem, but the Jem was a tad out of my price range. But I played them both and they felt similar minus shape/weight and I enjoyed the ZR Trem system much more. So I brought it home. I'm not going to knock my Schecter as is played great it was just as well setup as the s770.

Now my question is, BK pickups, what would you recommend? I was looking at them and liked the way the warpigs sounded just they would cost me almost $350 for a set. Just not sure how the creams would look in it because they covered ones would look odd.

What style of metal are you going for? For me, it would be a Cold Sweat in the Bridge(I play jazz so I need the cleanest tone possible sometimes) and a Nailbomb in the Bridge. Those BK Nailbombs play as though they are active, and they scream so very well when you dime squeal, but they are passive, and they have a slight organic sound that is to die for.

As for the single coil, I couldn't tell you. That is up to you.

I think your setup would fit me the best. Range is everything pretty much, I want to be able to range from like Dream Theater, Symphony X, Trivium, Vital Remains. But for soloing in the neck hit like Dream Theater, Slash, Symphony X.

I think that it would happen the same to me with a 7 strings guitar. I would like to have it but I would use it just for specific compositions, not for the every day practice.

It's the same with the baritone I almost never play it at home but, those 5 songs I am having so far with both bands, using the baritone are totally worth owning one

It seemed weird to use it for practice minus a handful of songs that actually use a 7. I actually enjoyed the fact it was a 27" scale. It made playing around the 12+ fret easy as can be compared to the 24.75 that I normally use.

I used to use mine for my lessons here until I realized it was throwing some folks off as it looks like I"m on the A when I'm actually on the E and the low B is useless in most lessons as very few students run 7's. So I switched to my ancient RG560 for lessons. But as Cosmin says, I love having it for certain compositions, but if you find your not playing it, then you probably won't miss it and will be happier with this

I have already used it more than my 7 and I've had it 4 days. Love the thin neck, always figured I hate it since I've own Gibsons but it really is a nice change.

It is a mahogany body with a poplar burl top. It really stands out in my collection being wood and all.
