Hi again Rhida! Good job with your alternate picking technique! Your technique is evolving in two directions: better timing and more control of dynamics. These are the two things that I commented you that you had to focus and it's cool to see that you are starting to improve them. Your timing is still a bit irregular as well as your dynamics. How to work on it?

Here are some ideas:

- Practice over the original lesson, try to emulate the instructor's playing. Focus on rhythm and the length of each note.
- Use your foot or head to mark tempo while you play.
- Analyze the dynamics used by the instructors on each phrase and try to emulate them.
- Exaggerate dynamics while you practice, it's a good training to improve your dynamics control.

Hi, it's getting better but you're still way in front of the beat.

It's hard to keep in time when there's very little percussion in the background but you'll have to get it right because sometimes us guitarists have to play along to only a hi-hat sometimes. As Gab said, tapping your foot is one way you can keep an 'internal clock'

When the drums kick in you find it easier to keep in time but you still have a tendency to be in front.

Your fretting hand movements also occur just a bit too early.

As I advised in the other thread, give yourself more of a chance to get it right.. keep going at it a little longer and get some real improvements happening. That way you stand a better chance of coming back with a solid take.

Hey mate,

I think the guys pretty much nailed everything there was to say here - I'd advise you to spend more time practicing this one in order to be able to implement the suggestions and make the changes sound natural.

Our body needs time to adjust to changes usually and because we want results quickly - it's in our nature - we usually don't allow it to follow its natural rhythm. So, my thoughts are: practice focused and be patient - you've already seen progress, so have faith

Hi man,

my colleagues already said it all but i want to add somethings too:

1. It looks like you picking hand is a bit tense. So especially when you're doing alternate picking your hand has to be VERY relaxed. Think about here that your wrist is only hold by a string(like a marionette), so TOTALLY LOOSE. then your movements should be a lot easier at faster speed too. Of course, warm up first!!!

2. Your hand clench from the fretting hand is really far way from the fretboard. This way it's really hard to damp the open strings and bendings & vibratos are almost impossible to do. And when you're doing the position shifts move your thumb too, don't stick on the back side of the neck.

3. watch your timing, try to connect more to the hiHats! They play 1/8 notes too, so you have a good guideline here.
