Iron Maiden, Anthrax, Reel Big Fish, Alice Cooper, Ozzy, Virgin Steele, Manowar, Bon Jovi, Edguy, Falconer, Gamma Ray, Kamelot, My Dying Bride, Nocturnal Rites, Poison, Smashing Pumpkins, Spin Doctors and the Hellacopters!
I'll think of more later, but you can start with these

I know I've asked for an Arch Enemy lesson before but maybe Between The Buried And Me after that? That would be an awesome lesson to have

Oh oh oh! Killswitch engage style!
U R the man for it;)
Posted by: fkalich Apr 17 2008, 07:30 AM
nice last lesson. on my soon to do list.
well, since you asked, I would like to see something in the style here, particularly his lead in the middle of the song
http://youtube.com/watch?v=g4rPIjWqMRc&feature=related
before anyone turns up their nose at a 80's pop star, a little history. She was one of the top singers in the 80's, I have seen at least one person on this forum list her as his favorite singer.
but the guitarist was equally responsible for her success. In fact, she had been trained in opera, and he taught her to sing rock, they have now been married for over 25 years I think.
He was quite good, played leads that complimented her voice. I would like to see a takeoff on his style.

Killswitch Engage is noted down

NO FOR GODS SAKE PLEASE DONT!!!!
Music wise they are talented (my curse and arms of sorrow are killer songs)
BUT
they are damm rude to fans (atleast the singer)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=szlXCe69eXA
The singer just picks up a fight with a 13yo kid because hes enthusiastic about kse playing. But the comeback insult when kid was screaming his same was funny.
I used to like them a lot and even saw them live last month but after i saw that I sorta formed an opinion.
Actually, guitarwise theyre great so I
sorta take my comment back, but just wish theyd treat fans with atleast some degree of respect.
Oh and Trond, please do a lesson in the style of.... I KILLED THE PROM QUEEN:

Bullet For My Valentine and the mentioned KSE is highly supported here

a Killswitch lesson would be good, or maybe some really heavy stuff!! I think you would do a great job of an "In The Style Of......Necrophagist" lesson!!
But the killer of all for me would be an in the style of Testament lesson, one of my favourite bands and really heavy with some godlike solo's!!
for those who don't know testament, some great songs to check out would be:
- Souls Of Black
- The Preacher
- Return To Serenity (contains the worlds greatest legato solo)
- Trial By Fire
- Over The Wall
- Into The Pit

Hmm.. I'm going to have busy next months ahead trying to come up with all of this
Testament is a great idea!

Hi Trond,
As many others I'm a big fan of your Rock Solo (Beginner). Trying to struggle my way through what many here probably consider elementary, it's really a wonderful lesson for someone who originally learned classical guitar for about a year, have tought myself some sing-a-long tabs and a lot of jazz chords for acoustic guitar. And then recently bought myself a Telecaster to explore electric guitar further.
My request would be: is it possible for you to make a nice lesson with an interesting comp'ing for the Beginner solo?
Something like Muris have done with his "Jazz Swing Rythm" lesson, where he gives a beginner and a intermediate lesson for soloing with the very same progression as background?
It's a fun way to learn. And it emphasises the importance of not only being the soloing (shred?) star in a band, but also knowing nice ways to comp. And it shouldn't be too difficult for you to pull off?
Thanks a lot for your efforts here, from a "closet Norwegian"!
Best regards
Torben

Thanks
Glad you like the lesson!
I thought about doing the rock solo as a 3-level lesson. And it's still in the works.
My problems is that when i'm trying to come up with a new solo for it, i end up coming up with ideas for wastly different lessons
But an intermediate version is finished soon.
I just have to get some exams finished, and then the lessons will start to flow more regularly.

Sounds great, Trond. Just to specify: besides alternative solo's (great idea!) it would also be nice to get a suggestion for playing the accompanying chord progressions, in a nice arrangement. Because it's very educational to first do "your own backing track", recording the guitar backing first, and then apply the solo afterwoods. The whole thing coulc then be uploaded here, perhaps? At least I find it (hva er ordet for "lærerikt" på engelsk?) satisfying.
This post is just because it isn't clear to me, if this was your intention?
Thanks again.

Testament wins, I hope it will be a great lesson for sure

It'd be awesome to have a lesson where you used your guitar that has the whammy bar so you can do a scream in the lesson! Or even a dive bomb!
