I would like to break the ice with a chord question. 
What is this chord in standard E tuning? What makes it the chord that it is? I know there are characteristics that define chords.
0-2-4-0-3-0
I love it! And how could I use this chord in a progression? In other words, what chords might go with this one?

Hey Brandon! The notes in this order are E B F# G D E now let's see what functions they bear
E would be the tonic, B would be the fifth, F # would be the added 9th, G would be the minor third, D would be the minor 7th that gives us an Em7add9 You can look at this chord as belonging both to the harmonized C major scale (3rd step) or D major (2nd step) scale what suits you better
From that point on, there's a lot of possibilities
let me know if you come up with any ideas

So what is the 9 we are talking about? What makes it 9? I understand about the third and seventh. Those are part of a minor scale.

Hey Brandon!
in respect to the tonic, you can see 2nds as being 9ths when they are in a higher octave, as well as 4ths being elevenths and 6 being 13ths.Keep this in mind: 2=9, 4=11, 6=13 when they are in a superior octave.
When we have a chord having E as a tonic and having an F# in there, you can look at F# as being the 9th

thanks Cosmin, it makes sense now. I'm trying to compose - not working too well. Every time I try to come up with a heavy song, it turns into a happy one too! It's crazy! I'm not getting the power I want from the mix either.

Hey mate! This sounds very nice! You could make it gloomier with some b2 nds here and there
just like the ones I used in metal metrics 1 at the breakdown in the middle. Otherwise the riffs are pretty mean! You know, the music reflects your feelings and thoughts usually - if you're not angry on anything, you won't necessarily sound mean just because you want to
but if something bugs you in life up to a point where you can't take it anymore, blast! The anger can be channeled through a song Cosmin

Then I am glad the song turned out how it is so far. I am happy actually. haha. Um... "b2 nds" ??? I am guessing you are talking about the dissonant chords.

Hey Brandon! I think that ore strings are loose than the one on which the note is played. Try to mute the rest and see what happens

Hey Cosmin!
Ever try to write a song and it's going great, then you come up with some other ideas that don't fit into the song? This means an entirely new song before ever finishing the other one. I have so many unfinished songs, if I actually finished them I would have an album!! 
How do you combat, or more appropriately, how do you manage these constant new ideas?
I keep thinking I am going to finish a song, but never do. What do you do, Cosmin?

Hey Bran, well, accidentally we are dealing with the same situation in the studio right now. The song 'Seeds' was a pain in the hiney for us, because the chorus is very tricky and we were having a hard time coming up with a good vocal line. Once we got a good vocal line, we discovered it was not fitting with the verse line and so on, until we ended up with a lot of great ideas which somehow were not fitting among themselves. Big bummer, right?
We saved them all and now we are keeping them for future songs and that I think, answers your question SAVE, SAVE, SAVE!

yes, I know exactly what you're dealing with
Your growth has not been an organic one - you have exposed yourself to a lot of people but they haven't been engaged yet in interaction. I talk to everyone on YT and FB, so that they can see I am real, my bands are real and i like to talk to them. Take initiative and make them carry the flag for you If you dig my idea

Things won't happen over night see that's the bad things with those adds they gave you an unrealistic measure of your success Not that your product isn't good, au contraire, you are one of the first examples I always talk about, when it comes to great playing and good ideas with the guitar and modern metal music, but your exposure was not generated because of a bunch of activities you controlled, involving interaction in various forms. You were just getting by, using adds
It's very good, but now, keep the people with you and make them talk about you

Cosmin, I have a question about recording in the studio.
I see a lot of bands say they are tracking guitars in a week or two. So this must mean they already have the songs written. Do bands jam out until they have their song completely (or mostly) ready and then record it? I record songs like I used to write short stories - just as I go. This is so I won't forget it. Should I just I re-record all these parts in a single week or two with fresh strings after all the songs are written? Maybe that's how people do it these days? It seems like everybody does it all at once. I just have to remember my riffs though.

Mate, in Aria, the approach is the following:
1) We record the ideas and make up an initial song structure, on which we build afterwards until the preproduction stage is completed. This means: Written bass and drums, recorded guitars and vocals and also pretty much the whole orchestration ideas, involving various synths or this sort.
2) After we know every little detail, we go in the studio and re-record everything with live instruments and then mix and master.
We think that the pre-production stage is very important, because nothing is left unaccounted or by chance, if you get the meaning The devil is in the details mate!!!

My brother and I were discussing something today and I thought I would ask you. Why do a lot of bands self-title their debut albums? Why not just name the album like they do their following ones?

We did the same with Voodoo Well, I think that there are only two alternatives:1) Lack of inspiration
2) Whenever we are dealing with the first release, some people want it so bad to be associated with the band, that they leave it self titled
The Aria EP will be called 'Seeds', though - it symbolizes inception, birth

Hey Cosmin,
I resubscribed to GMC today. I was working on Metal Metrics 1 and enjoying it. I am remembering what I have learned last year.
Now I'm trying http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Metal-Metrics-6/ and I have a problem. The backing track sounds like it's in Drop A instead of Drop C. Anyway, the whole pitch is different from the lesson.

Hehe! Guess I was sleepy last night Brandon, I managed to find the problem and I will upload the good track in a few hours after i get the project from my dad's laptop It was just in the middle part!
