Yello, Marcus!
I have this old Squier Strat lying around, and I decided.. "Hey! I hate that thing! I'm gonna rebuild it completely" since it's basicly crap. And of course, I thought of your tone right away! You get the most beautiful tones from your magical, white Strat. I'm thinking that I'm gonna change the electronics first, but I wanna have some good sounding pickups. So I was wondering: what pickups do you use? Thanks ^^ This post has been edited by Canis: Jul 9 2009, 12:23 AM -------------------- GMC is not just a website... It's a lifestyle!

I'm sure about the pickups though. -------------------- My stuff:

If I'm going to change my pickups in the close future, I guess I'll keep an eye on this thread, as I want my white Fender Strat' to sound just like Marcus too !

Hi Guy's,
The sound Marcus seems to get on his Strat is very much like Malmsteen. I have a Malmsteen signature Strat and it is fitted with the following; Bridge.... DiMarzio HS-3 Middle....DiMarzio YJM (Yngwie J Malmsteen) This pickup is not crucial as its rarely ever used so it could be left with the stock pickup the guitar came with. Neck..... Another YJM. These pickups are noiseless and need more drive than a Humbucker but thats what gives them that sound. If you watch the below Youtube link Malmsteen demonstrates them without any delay etc which Marcus seems to use. These pickups also sound more like single coils than Humbuckers on clean settings. If you have a Pod xt, select a Marshall and put the tube screamer in front you wont be far away with these pickups. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUGrh-DpixY Regards Tony |

I'm also pretty sure he uses a hotrail in bridge position. You can clearly see that it's not the case in neck position, but anyway.

Marcus is my favourite instructor, it would be really great to have some new lessons someday.
"IDontWantMyUsername" is rigth, in this youtube video, page 5, he says: "Thank you! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JJdF1VvxDM...re=channel_page And if you use soimething like that along with the PODxt patch he posted in one lesson, it could sound really great I guess. |
