Slow down, and practice slowly, then speed up - its the best way

After you go certain tempo, your hand starts to tense - it is normal. What you have to do then is practice something else, until that what you practiced when you were tensing embed itself in your muscle memory. Let a few days pass and try the exercise again, you will see that you have moved up the tempo by some small value of bpm. And this is how you built up your speed - with time. There is no other way.
