I allways liked Muse but not because of their guitar work, more for their unique vocals, until I heard this song which made me appriciate their guitar work more, I mean, that solo is just sweet.

I really love that guitar with the KAOSS pad in it. Oh, the awful things I'd do with a guitar like that.

I've always been a bit of an electronics nut. I've had this fantasy for a while of plugging a guitar into a big modular synth. Some day I'm going to do it...and proably learn that it sounds like ass.

I really like Muse mostly because I've more of a fan of interesting soundscapes and noise on guitar than crisp technique. Which is kind of odd since I'm really getting interested in learning some neoclassical shred stuff now that I actually have a guitar to learn on.

Muse is superb! The singer/guitar player is incredible... he sings like a mix of Bono and Freddy Mercury and also plays the guitar in a very original and imaginative way. I used to listen to the studio albums and I though they were great. The last week I saw a live concert in tv and I thing that they are one of the best pop/rock bands of this times.

Muse has been my favorite band for countless (well, a tiny bit less than 10) years now. The most practiced and perfected covers my band does are songs of Matt Bellamy and co. smile.gif Prefer the darker sound of Absolution and (especially) Origin of Symmetry - not a single mediocre song on that album. Still not quite as convinced by Black Holes... but Showbiz is nostalgia by now smile.gif

And yes, Bellamy is one of the more underrated guitarists out there - probably mostly because he doesn't go for the (comparatively) clear, pure tone of neo-classical, blues or most kinds of rock, really. Lots of thought behind the "noise", though smile.gif

Personally I find after listening to BH&R that it's my favorite of theirs, knights of cydonia is just such an epic, awesome song from the vocals, to the guitar bass and especially drums. That's not to say I don't love their other stuff though, muse is a pretty original band who has made a big impact on my own musical thinking.

Heh, "Knights" is actually my largest gripe with the whole album. Just sounds too much like a pastiche to me. I know I'm not in the majority, though wink.gif

Muse is my favorite band along with smashing pumpkins!

Invincible was a song i instantly liked.

BH&R was an album that grew on me. at first i was upset that they left the darker tone of the perfect (imo) album Absolution, but after a while i started digging it. even Supermassive Black hole. mann, that song is cool.

wow. muse is just amazing.

"dead star" is stuck in my head. (youtube it if you're bored and haven't heard it, probably muse's heaviest song)

What did you learn tonight?
while shouting so loud, you barely joyous, broken thing.
You are a voice that never sings, is what i say.
You are freezing over hell
You are bringing on that end you do so well
and you can only blame yourself, is what is say.

I think it's very over top top actually, but intentionally so. Definitely not Muse's comfort zone, but I guess I like the song as it is. Reasoning being, I read in an interview, that muse made this album as much more of a studio album than others before (meaning harder to replicate on stage). So it's a different sound that isn't classic muse for sure.

Yeah, looking forward to hearing the live versions in a week smile.gif I quite like the rest of the CD by now.

As for Knights, it's not just that it's over the top, it's also that the melodic material on all instruments (including voice) seems uninspired and naive (the latter of which is certainly intended - just doesn't work for me). I guess I'll just accept it as an homage to Matt's dad smile.gif
