What's up everybody my name is Timothy James Harrison. I been playing guitar for 10 years kept me out of alot of trouble. My 2 favorite guitarist are Joe Satriani, Vinnie Moore. Zakk Wylde said in a Darrell Abbott R.I.P interview that guitar players must great skill in blues so that just stuck w/ me. Metallica and Megadeth were the first band made me want to play guitar. \m/ Jazz/Blues music is also a personal preference. I have played in 2 bands before. Toured to Corpus Christi and frequent shows in Austin, Tx. One band I played guitar and the other bass guitar. We didn't play any covers just our own sounds. I'm real hard on myself as a guitar player and crack jokes on myself at the end of the day it's all about having fun! Cheers! \m/ -TJHarrison5252

Awesome to have you here TJ! biggrin.gif

So if I get you right, improving your blues skills is a priority? Is there anything else you would like to get better at?

Great to see you in the forum Timothy! smile.gif
It is really cool that you played in bands that didn't play covers, only originals. I've been discussing lately with my friends the pros and cons of playing covers with the band. There is this tide lately among local musicians in my town where they kinda "blame" the cover bands of taking space, audience and opportunities from bands that play originals. Mostly because of the fact that gigs of local bands that play originals are poorly attended where cover bands gather big crowds in all the clubs they play. To cut the long story short - the idea is that cover bands are making the audience get used to hits and music from the past to the point where audience don't want to hear and/or support anything new and original smile.gif
I must say that I don't agree with that at all even though a lot of people seem to. I am of the opinion that the band which is playing originals must sound good and have great songs and something to offer to the audience, otherwise there is no one to blame for the lack of support or fans on the gigs. Sorry for straying away a bit here, but what I wanted to say is : congrats on playing in bands that played originals only! I think that it the right way to go. Of course, playing covers is also fun and nothing wrong there as well. After all - playing music should always be fun and that is only thing that matters.

It's 50/50 thing, respectively brotha \m/.(My opinion) In the beginning I heard it's better to cover songs then play your originals. It makes people in the crowd say "I have never heard that song before." Thanks guys going through the e-book!
