GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Too Many Connections On Gmc?

Posted by: kahall Jul 2 2011, 11:53 PM

As reported here. http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=38589 I am still getting this error. Got it last night but I messed up the screen shot and it doesn't show what site I am on. Trust me, it was GMC.

Yeah, it happens to me sometimes. I suppose too many users are on board and the database can't handle it. Too bad. Doesn't really make sense since we still haven't broken the record of February 2009 of users online. Must have downsized something since then.

It's a rare occasion for me, I have only seen it personally once. You're internet connection also has a factor in it as well, does it last more than a couple minutes?

Yes, mine does. I just wait for a while and try again. We have 10 megabit. I guess it would be the problem?

I too occaisionally receive this message. In total over the last few months I have seen it 3 or 4 times. I have high end fiber optic internet service which clocks out at 35 megabit up and down. When GMC does not allow access all other sites work fine for me, the issue is on their end.

It can, although its less likely. anything under 20mbps might make it a slight bit more frequent - but mostly it will just affect how quick you can get back on. Typically, it's usually only a few minutes - I have seen it happen with a few other sites more frequently.

You shouldn't have any problem then. I'm a little under you at around 25-28 UL/DL and I've only ever seen it once, back in the beginning of this year.

Haha..well.. as luck would have it right after I posted the above message I tried to return to the GMC home page and lighting struck. I first received an IPS error informing me that there was a problem with the DB, I then hit refresh and got this.

I test my connection frequently and it's never below 35.. most of the time on download the speed is between 43-45. Also all other sites were working for me right after this happened. It took about 10 min and 20 try's before I was able to get back into GMC.

Thanks a lot for reporting this - I am very frustrated that this still keeps happening sad.gif I will ask the database engineer to prioritize this, so we can get rid of the problem asap!

I used to have this problem but it's been a while since the last time that happened.

I guess I'm lucky, never seen it!, and I live here laugh.gif

Never happened to me, I usually get brief pauses, when the maintenance occurs. These don't last long tho, and site is running 24/7, so this is probably just a minor issue. Did it happen more than once?

Thanks Kris. I'm not complaining just reporting. I have not been able to visit nightly like I used to which makes it frustrating. I get some free time to visit and the sites down and I get a sad face. I usually can't get on until the next day when it happens.

Just curious. Have you tried to get onto GMC at different times of the day or are you getting on the same time each time you have had the problem? I'm just wondering if maybe at certain times of the day, the site may have more users online. I get on nearly every day & have only seen the message 3 or 4 times in 5 months.

I have and I can get on most times. It is only at my usual time which is 10pm CST to 11:30pm CST that this happens which is probably a pretty busy time for those accessing from the U.S.

Sadly I don't have an answer, but this seemed like a valid question & I thought it might be of help to the Admins.

Yes, it's a technical question, servers, routing, database. Who made it should know.. (although sometimes it's hard to predict even for experts).
