Hello!
I was wondering which wah wah I should take. I was going for the slash cry baby but when watching many reviews I get a impression that it's not the pedal I should go for. I am a fan of slash and love his wah-wah solos but it costs a bit.
I heard Vox is very good. But i am not sure.
So can you guys give me any tips for wich pedal I should go for?

The slash crybaby isn't worth the money...
It's basicly a Standard Crybaby with a built in Overdrive, and that overdrive sounds not very good.
The signature Wahs are great if you are into a certain wah sound (I like my Zakk Wah because of the great treble boost and smooth tone). Slash used a standard Crybaby Wah on the records so you will get his sound with a standard Cry Baby or if you want some sound options, get the 535q Crybaby.

is this correct?(it's in norweagian though) it's Dunlop GCB-95 Crybaby Wah-Wah or is it different from 535q crybaby?
I found this Wahwah DUNLOP Crybaby GCB535Q but it costs as much as the slash's wah wah pedal costs

I guess that standard wah from crybaby should do the trick. You should go to the store and try it out.

I thought Slash used a rack-mounted wah. I know that he has a expression pedal that he uses live but it is not the wah itself.
At least this what I was told and read.

I've been looking at wah's lately. Not looking into any particular "signature" tone or "vintage" or anything like that. Lack of tone suck is a concern, more because I'd need to spend more $ to do a bypass workaround if I get a wah that sucks.
Budda Amplification has a wah that they call the Bud-wah that I like the sound of. It's not a tweaker's wah, it sounds the way it sounds, but it's good at it. Retail's $170 or so, but you can snag em used on eBay for $100 or so.

I've also been looking at the Dunlop Crybaby 535Q because of its tweakability. It's also cheaper tham the Budda wah.
I like the idea of the Morley Bad Horsie but I don't like the spring loading of the pedal...so you can't set it and leave it.
No answers here. Just an update of where I am in that journey
At least this what I was told and read.
His live rig uses the Dunlop rack wah. Not sure if Slash still uses the regular Crybaby in the studio or if he sticks with the rack unit.

If You are a fan of Slash, and You wanna play his wah solos, the Cry Baby the best way I think.
If the signature model and the Cry Baby too expensive for You, the second hand is the solution.

I have a Crybaby with the red Fasel. I think they call it classic, not sure. But they always mention red Fasel. Costs $30 more than a standard. I have never noticed the "tone suck" phenomena with my pedal. It may be true bypass, It does have a 6 prong switch, unlike 3 prongs on the standard Crybaby, but I am not sure if it is true bypass or not, I have read some that say it is, but Dunlop never tells you one way or another on any of their pedals. A pedal does not have to have true bypass to be good about not affecting tone, for example Boss pedals are pretty transparent without that.
It sounds real good, especially with my MODIFIED Boss SD-1 following it in the loop.

I am using Morley Bad Horsie 1 and I am using it for about 5 years on stage and it didnt have a slightest problem, considering audience splitting drinks over it and every kind of airplane cargo journeys...
It has a auto activation system and I like it too, and it doesnt use potentiometers for pedal motion, that is another plus. I really recommend that one...

I do like the optical sensor idea. Would like to see that on more pedals.
I snagged the Budda wah on eBay this afternoon. It was a good price. Has good reviews. I guess I have a reason to do a video demo of some sort now. I had one for that oddball distortion I use too and didn't get around to it. Will see, I guess.

My friend has the Red Slash Crybaby, and the consensus is generally correct. Aside from the not-so-functional overdrive, I did not see a reason to purchase this wah over another.
I did play the Camo-Colored Dimebag Crybaby. Wow, it was so customizable, has a true bypass and thought it was really cool. If I upgrade, I might go to this.
Any opinions?

I would go for the 535Q instead of signature wahs, but in the end it is up to you. It's best to try them in store and actually hear the difference before buying.
