Hi Jerry,

in your lesson "Unison Riffing" you are using the (great sounding) JCM900 Simulation of SimulAnalog project. Can you please tell me how to use this VST Plugin ? I found no special VST-Host on the page www.simulanalog.org and when i use it with my VST-Host-Program i get a little time shift that makes it's nearly impossible to play

Hi jacko,
I'm glad you like that sound.
You haven't found a special VST-Host because you can use the .dll file with any DAW like Cubase, Sonar, Reaper, etc...
I guess the time shift you're talking about is the latency, a common problem with cheap audio interfaces.
Usually you can set the buffer in your audio interface, which is a very important parameter about the latency.

The .dll shall just be copied and dropped into the "plugins" folder, but I assume You have done that already. Which host are You using ?

You can load the JCM900 SimulAnalog plugin with your VST Host and set the buffer for real time ASIO monitoring. UX1 has a bit high latency, I hope you will get it to work properly.

Let us know if you solve the problem, jacko. I never used that software nor Toneport but I'm quite sure you can set the buffer to low values in some way, as Ivan suggested.

To fix the latency you can do this:

- set your daw to record the dry signal from the UX1 send 3+4
- set the podfarm app to use a similar tone during recording (this won't be recorded, it's ONLY for monitor)
- re-amp the recorded dry signal in daw with your simulanalog vst, no more latency problem

Dear friends,

because of your help I finally found at setting (buffersize 70 Samples, whatever that means ??) that allows me to use this JCM900 Simultion. There is a still a very small latency but it works.
I do not use this VST-equipment for recording, only when I'm practicing the GMC lessons.

If you know other audio interfaces which have less latency (and are not too expensive) please let me know.

Thanks again

The line-6 POD that you already own? It offers less latency when used correctly. Select it as your soundcard. Plug something into the monitor out (actual monitors or headphones), run the podfarm application, make sure your daw is using it for output, make sure your browser (and thus the video lesson player) can use it for output, make sure guitarpro (or whatever else you might be using) can use it for output.

No latency from that monitor jack.
