No the robot didn't learn to play guitar smartguy
![]() Ex-Marlyin Manson, current Rob Zombie guitarist John 5, he also has great solo work. John 5 One of my favorite guitarists, and probably the most underrated guitarists ever, I love how he mixes shred and country. Any other fans of him? Kris, I think you will like him. Thanks - I had heard about him but never checked him out.
Interesting mix of styles - try and see if you can isolate the different ingredients of his playing. --Kris -------------------- I do not have any natural talent at all - you can beat me with hard work.

Bending behind the nut, chicken picking, picktapping, and hybrid picking are big parts of his playing.
BTW my computer is broken, so I may not be able to post alot, or watch many vids. (I'm not on my computer now) -------------------- ![]() |

Yeah, I have John's two solo albums. I liked his second ("Songs for Sanity") the most. His country is probably better than his metal. But yeah, great player in general. Freakin’ fugly looking guy with the whole no eyebrows thing he has goin… but he is married to one of the hottest porn stars ever, so I guess some chicks go for that zombie look. Hell, Steve Vai even put down a pretty crappy guest solo on Songs for Sanity.

Really? I've heard he's really cool. I know that Marlyin Mason treated John5 like s*** though, and wouldn't let him solo, so John5 quit.
I had I think John is great at metal and country, I like his riffs on Rob Zombie's new album alot, and some of the solos are nuts. But "Songs For Sanity" was my favorite too. This post has been edited by RIP Dime: Oct 28 2006, 09:08 PM -------------------- ![]() |

The new Guitar World mag (one with The Beatles on the cover) has some articles on John 5 this month. His sound set up, talks about new album stuff like that (would also like to mention the Tom Morello article talking about his solo work as The Nightwatchman...love him) It's pretty interesting. Love Rob Zombie! Superbeast and Dragula awesome songs. I haven't heard any of John 5's solo stuff but will be checking it out.

Decided to add this to an existing topic rather than create a new one...
The new Marilyn Manson album is out next month. A couple tracks are previewable here and there. Reviews and interviews are coming out here and there. There's definitely a common thread among descriptions of the new album... I think it's kinda funny and kinda sad that after they got rid of a player like John 5 that the next album is a lot more guitar oriented and full of solos. Skold's interesting, but I wonder if we would have heard some chicken pickin on a MM album of John 5 had stuck around. -------------------- Guitars: ESP Semi-Hollow Eclipse, 1984 Ibanez Roadstar RS440, Peavey T-60, Daisy Rock Rock Candy Custom

I love skold. No, you manson would not allow for chicken picking to be on the album. i know we are all guitarists here but when it comes to a band, the guitarist is insignificant. john 5 did not leave because manson didnt let him play solos... thats the most ridiculous thing ive heard lol. he has stated many time that when he played in manson, he played for the band, not for himself. if he wanted to play solos, he would play on his solo albums and well, there you go, he has 3.
