Hola Gabriel!

I had some time on my hands and decided to record a slower song, I had this tune in my mind for a couple of weeks now.

What do you think of it?

hey mate! It's cool to see you creating some melodic stuff!! smile.gif I like the idea of this song, the verse and chorus progressions sound good and I think that you will be able to create some catchy melodies over it. I think that adding a "part C" or sang bridge after or before the solo could be good. Also you could make some variations to the last chorus... a beginning without drums? more arrangements?

I'm curious to hear the melodies that you have in mind for this one....

Hey mate! Welcome back to the army!! I'm very happy of see you working on new songs! I'm impressed of the quality of this two songs. I will keep on listening to these ones to make them grow in me. I like how each one has a different feeling. For any reason I connect the first one to some Offspring stuff while the second one to Weezer, but there is also a unique style on them. I'm very interesting in following how these ones evolves, So I'll wait for your updates!

Hola Gab!

As I've told you via pm, I'm back in business and would like to continue our army training.
For techniques, I'm practicing with Todd in his bootcamp, so in our army thread my idea would be to focus on a few of your recent punk/hardcore lessons that I'd like to learn for the rec, and then we can see what specific things I should work on and maybe dive into technique stuff as well.

Right now, I'm working on your Sum 41 lesson just to get started. For the next few weeks, I have bookmarked your Rise Against, Millencollin, Offspring and A Day To Remember lessons.

So I suppose I'll upload a video of the Sum 41 lesson as soon as I recorded one, what do you think?

Cheers

Christian

Hi mate, that's a perfect plan! Let's start with these lessons and then we'll see if you need any other more technical stuff as a complement. These lessons cover different kinds of grooves, being ADTR, maybe the more different to what you are used to play.

Looking forward your takes.

Hola Gabriel,

this is my first take for the Sum 41 lesson, I'm not fully happy with it as there are some unwanted noises here and there, but I wanted to get your opinion.

Cheers

Christian

Hi mate, great to see your rocking this one!

The lesson needs more days of practice but you are on the right track. The main thing to adjust is your 8th notes riffing, mostly when you play it with palm muting but also when you play the notes open. It's not sounding totally smooth.

I also think that you could make your right hand movement smaller when playing rhythm and single notes so give some attention to it.

Finally, when holding your pick, try to use the tip of your thumb. You'll be able to play with more precision.

Thanks for the feedback Gab!

I also felt that the 8th riffing was the part I struggled with.

I'm also experimenting a bit with my picking hand, like picking with closed hand as opposed to the somewhat open hand with the sticking out fingers like I do in the video. I'll try your advice to use the tip of my thumb when holding the pick.

I'll practice this lesson a bit more on slower speed and will work it up to full speed.
