My current Ibanez sports a maple neck(wizardII) with Mahogany body. And a set of 'emg' designed passive pickups. I'm not in anyway good enough to need new badass pickups for this thing, it already sounds better than my playing.

But what I'm wondering is what sorts of pickups should I dream about for the future? Looking for deep chug in palm muted power chords, but still screaming highs when doing lead work.

whats goin on iscariott?

emg's really kick some tail... beautiful sound to them so if you didn't mind stickin with the emg name i would say go for the emg 81 and 85 actives!! they have so much versatility to em and really give you that deep chug... my buddy has a jackson soloist with them in it and they rock!! you want those highs they'll give it to ya...

Up all night playing guitar before classes, same as every sunday biggrin.gif

Thanks for the advice, I was wondering about the 85/81's. I had heard they were amazing pickups, but that they tended not to sound good in Ibanez RG's, due to the wood used(basswood, too trebbly i guess). Since mine is mahogany I guess I lucked out.

Out of curiosity how do the emg's sound next to say Dimarzio Evo's?
