GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Preparing For Battle!

Hey guys,

I was just wondering, how do you prepare for a practicing sessions? Do you do things like stretching your fingers, clap your hands to warm them or anything like that? Or do you just start of playing a bit slow?

I usually stretch my fingers, clap my hands and rub them together to get them warm and more flexible.

I concentrate more on getting the circulation going so rubbing hands together, massaging forearms, wrist etc.. and then play the things that I'm going to be practising but just starting slow and precise. smile.gif

I always stretch. Then I do this

After that I usually go through about an hour of warm-up exercises that encompass every technique in the Musicians Institute Ultimate Technique Guide.

Wow, that's a long routine!

But I bet it's very good for your hands and fingers though. Better then doing nothing and get hurt instead...

I always start a routine doing some stretches like the ones that you can find in this video at 03:43. It's very important to take care of your muscles before and after a technique routine.

I do all of these stretches before the circulation massage. To answer your question, warming up as long as I do is not necessary. I just feel more comfortable when I do it since I practice a lot.

Allright,

these are all new things to me, but I think I have to get used to doing them before practicing. I've watched the clip Gabriel, thanks for that.
