Iv'e had this Epiphone Les Paul for about three years now and the pickups
are horrible but the action is amazing would it be a good investment to put
some EMG H4 and H4a on it?

Sure why not, you can try, and if you don't like the result you can always swap them again. Pickups are relatively cheap and easy to exchange with somebody else.

EMG passive pickups are no good imho! Get active EMGs or passive Seymour Duncans or Dimarzios...

I agree 101% with that. EMG passives are terrible.
The Zack Wylde EMG set is a good option if your looking for that sound.
It comes with all parts you need to replace to get the EMG's going.

why dont you try to find actual gibson pick ups?


i used to have a pair in an old ibanez i hard. BEST sounding pick ups i ever had hands down.


i believe they were from a USA flying V

Yes, I agree with everyone else, I've also heard passive EMG's are not great at all, so getting active ones should be something you should consider.
Another thing to consider is getting original Gibson pickups for a more vintage tone, or some modern hi output pickups for metal.

I would say either the JB and 59 or JB and Jazz
My personal fav are the burstbucker pros though
