Slayer & Judas Priest At Roskilde, And Rooks was there :)

Like them or not the show was great.. Rarely I have experienced anything that heavy.. And yesterday I watched Judas Priest, on the very first row from the stage! I know swearing in here is prohibited,.. But this experience allmost calls for it .. It wasn't awesome .. that word doesn't cover it at all.. It was F..... insanely awesome.. And beyond .. After the concert K.K Downing and Glenn Tipton flicked their picks off from the stage and I caught Glenn Tiptons pick! I still can't believe it ... Those men are the Gods of Metal and I got their pick ! The solos played with that pick im sure must have imbued it.. And I don't care how old they are they rocked ultimatively hard .. I`ve always watched the guitarists throw out their picks and drummers throw out their sticks and thinking how comes my seats always so far back!!! , the closest I`ve ever come was a drum stick landing a couple of rows in front of me and a whole heap of guys pouncing on it into a huge bundle on the floor Would love to see Judas Priest live again, one of my favourites! they certainly rock!! Now, people who know me will know I'm not a fan of their style of music. Judas Priest neither (but still have lots of respect for both of them). All in all surprised with the relative quality of this year's lineup, despite Jay-Z and L.O.C. and a rather weak program. Rob's voice is definately not what it used to be, but im not a pessimist or calculative when it comes to music. It was a great concert in my ears and I don't need to compare it or analyze it, thats not good spirit. He did sound different in his young days but I think it suits him too, to sound rusty. This has nothing to do with Downing or Hill or Tipton's playing -- they all played tight. It hasn't got anything to do with Halford's voice (which was better than anyone could or should expect). It only has to do with energy. They played great, but most of the audience didn't care, because the band didn't make them care until they were about to leave the stage. Or maybe the Roskilde crowd was too composed of hiphop fans (a trend that needs to stop soon, but that's a different story) -- might be, because no one in the audience on the field seemed to know any of their material other than Breaking the Law. Then again, I did, and yet got nothing out of the concert other than a display of instrument craftmanship without nerve that Yngwie would have been proud of. If the concert was great in the pit, great. But metal isn't made for playing in a tiny, smoky jazz club, so if you can't get your energy out from Orange any further than the first set of delay towers, the festival bookers might as well have put Teitur back on stage that Saturday.
