Very sad to hear... A similar thing happened to me, I was off for aprox a half a year. Is the injury guitar related?

I also read that Yngwie injured his right hand in a car accident. He said he had to start all over again, so he practice extremely hard - and eventually the nerve healed and he got way better than before (he claims).

Let's hope this leads to something positive for you in the long run too.

/Kris

thx kristofer
it's not guitar related,i got it while working
i've been having problems with the hand for a while now
losing speed, stretch, control and power for the hammer-ons in my pinky and ring-finger,after couple of seconds my hand became tired and got all tensed up so i couldn't use it for few hours
it's my right hand, which is also my fretting hand since i am a lefty :think

yeah i'd say yngwie got back on track if he had some problems too
maybe after this i get up to his speed :> ,wouldn't that be awesome
but i will get back,as soon as i can i'm starting practice again like a madman biggrin.gif

At age 22, I fell roller skating along Venice beach -California. I broke a wrist bone, my fretting hand. I wore a series of 7 casts over an 8 month period until it healed.
.......I played anyway, biggrin.gif and I still have the old 12 string, with the chips and dents in the back of neck that were caused by the cast!

Wow, good luck to you man. The worst injury I had was a repetive stress injury in my fretting hand. That was only for maybe a week and I hated that.

i have a friend who completely trashed his index finger on his left hand (fretting hand) about a year ago. he was told he would pretty much never play guitar again. he can't even bend it down with his other fingers it just sits up in the air all the time.

but he plays rhythm guitar and his pinky has the strength of most of our ring fingers. he can almost use his index for barring which makes barre chords possible. He can play all of the open chords and most others using his other 3 fingers.

the moral of the story is to not give up as it is possible to still be a great......nooo......amazing guitarist no matter how injured you are.biggrin.gif

P.S i saw a video on shoutcast of a guy playing a chord progression with his feet, if thats not inspiring i dont know what is.

I have pretty often thought sbout what I would do if I was unable to use my fingers - and I have always come to the conlusion that there are many other things in music which can be challenging and rewarding to do.

So I believe you will still get a lot out of life - even if the worse should happen and you can't play. So try and not worry to much!
