Hey GMC'ers,

I just want to ask you, the question mentioned in the topic wink.gif
If you see your idol playing guitar, does that keep you motivated and practice more or are you like "Man, he plays so good" and you put your guitar down, because your idol is playing so good ?

Greets Max

PS: Dont take the 3rd pool choice too serious ;D

If it wasnt for the videos of Bjørn Berge on youtube, I would have been alot further behind in my playing now.

I can't decide between one and three it'S both true wink.gif

I can't say yes or no on this question because sometimes it gives me huge motivation and sometimes I could cry after seeing my Idol, because it shows me my own disability

Nah, that should want you to play even more. You'll never get to that level (or close to it), if you don't play. All the lessons here really keep me going too. I truly believe, if I would not have found GMC, I would have quit playing.

The thing is - we all have different lives. Some people can spend 12 hours a day on guitar and they don't have to worry about what will they do in a month because their parents are rich as hell and the bastard will never have to work.

In my situation it's somewhat different. I have to finish university and start working on a regular basis. I have a 25 years old brother who lives in Ukraine and there is no chance he can by himself a house/flat, and my parents are sending him money each month so he can pay for a living their as his salary is way too low.

So, sometimes i see a guy shredding the hell out of the guitar and it doesn't impress me a bit - it only drives me mad because the guy than showes me his 15 guitars - all customs and signatures, and when i ask him: "How did you get them?" - "My mom bought them for me!". I just turn around and go...

I guess you understand what i mean by the text above....

I concur. cool.gif

I tend to lack focus, so I eventually lapse into not playing if I dont find something fresh to do and challenge myself with, GMC provides challenges in shovel-fulls!

- Pavel, I know the feeling, but remember that some of the most inspired musicians in the world worked from the bottom up, look at Muris, caught in the middle of terrible conflict for a large part of his life and he creates some of the most brilliant and original music I have ever heard, obviously he put in the hard work, but I reckon if he had it all to begin with, he wouldnt have been so good today.

If people can relax all the time and rely on their "mommy's" to bail them out then they ultimately never pushed to create brilliant music or get anywhere, I know many people who are just given such things on a plate, but they dont produce brilliant or original music, they run the same old gauntlet as everyone else and rip-off their favourite artists - sound-a-likes.

Thats different by me, one time when i see a video i think like .. whooaw he's great .. i need to be on that level or higher too, and then im going to practice practice practice and i learn new things, but sometimes its just .. mannn o mann .. what a guy blink.gif " puts down guitar, watching anime or something " and then about 1 hour .. pick up the guitar, jamming on GMC and things .. biggrin.gif
