I am still having difficulties in finding what scales I can use for solo's. I have this korny christmas song FELIZ NAVIDAD. I don't know what to really play over it. Its in the key of C. Minor Pentatonic doesn't sound right with it. C major scale sounds okay but it needs more. Thanks!!

Hi Mike

Can you upload audio of the song or embed youtube video ?
It would mean a lot as I don't know that tune by name.

Thanks

If is the version that I know C major it's ok and could be C major pentatonic as well, but this kind of songs is like and standard tune, you can always make a reharmonization arrangement and play other scales. In this kind of song, like all popular tunes, the harmony is pretty simple so the application of different scales is hard or even imposible if you don't make a reharmonization.

I hope that was useful.

Here is a recording of last years performance of the tune. That playing guitar is another guy who has since moved on and I am replacing him. Any ideas of what to play over this would be awesome. Thanks!!
