Hmmm, well maybe it's because they are like me, in that my knowledge of Carribean music is very minimal.. I couldn't identify any particular style, only Reggae. I always thought Merengue was a term for caribbean music in general, but this also is a certain style. Still I think knowing different kinds of music from all around the world is great, even if you don't really use these styles in your own music.
