Hey Ben,

I decided to create a post here with the following idea (if you don't like it please delete the thread) : We can come to this thread and submit our takes at different tempos for different segments of your latest amazing lesson on 30 shredders. As I did below, we can write in bold which segment we will post and at what tempo and then we can post our progress and you can maybe have a look and comment smile.gif

So here I go:

Segment 25: Paul Gilbert at 115 BPM

I decided to start this off at 115bpm, I will hopefully coming week try to upload as I increase my speed and finally (hopefully) I will reach 125bpm soon. I chose this one to start with because it is AP + string skipping, my favorite techniques smile.gif

Hi Mert, great idea !! I love it biggrin.gif

Ok, this might help clear up some confusion about bpm tempos. The backing for 30 shredders goes through several changes of tempo but I can only give one name to the backing track. So it starts at 125 and stays there for quite a while but by the time we reach Paul Gilbert' section, we're speeding along at 190bpm, 16th notes.

So a better way to practise this lick is to treat it as straight 16th notes like I do in the track, so maybe chuck the metro at about 120, 130, 140 and see how it sounds that way smile.gif

Thanks Ben smile.gif I am happy you like the idea. Also thanks for the explanation about the bpm tempos. But according to my calculations playing 16th notes at 190bpm is almost equivalent to (actually slightly slower than) playing sextuplets at 125bpm. So I am happy practicing it this way also smile.gif

Ok here is P. Gilbert section at full speed (which I do at 125 bpm with 16th note sextuplets rather than at 190 bpm with 16th notes)

Wow, some super fast playing there, M ! Great picking action and finger shifting.

I was just about to write something about the last part not sounding right but then I decided to pick up the guitar to see how the lick is placed when played in a triplet fashion.. and you've got it just right - well done !!! smile.gif

What's next ??? smile.gif

Guten Abend Dieter !!

Nice to see you diving in to the deep end ! In truth, I think these phrases might be a bit too much of a leap to make at the moment !

The Yngwie lick uses economy picking and the Phrygian Major mode shapes might be a bit distracting. Maybe the Randy Rhoads solo might be a good one to start with because everything is more neat and tidy with the beat smile.gif

Good effort though ! Remember to try to let your fingers make the stretches rather than moving your whole hand with each finger, if that makes sense ? smile.gif
