We had a very slow site today with 3 hours of downtime.

This is the culmination of a couple of problematic days with bad server performance - which some of you might have noticed.

I want to apologize not only for the downtime but also for the lack of information. Videos didn't work for the last hour and we should have told you about it - instead of letting you click around the site and wonder what was going on.

However it currently looks like all issues are solved and like we have a responsive website, just like it should be! Please let us know if you still should encounter any problems.

I will return with more news about this tomorrow - but all members can expect to get at least one extra day of access added to their accounts.

Yup a pre information would have helped a lot. I know you guys are doing great work, hope the performance is now good.

As unbelievable as it may seem, the one who pointed out that the site was acting strange about 2 days ago, was my girlfriend and I was thinking 'nah, couldn't be...'

Yes, me too. I just thought it was my internet connection. It still seems to "waiting for.." in my status bar, not fully loading.

No worries, these things happen

I think it's just that the server is having to re adjust to the extra levels of awesome-ness that has come to GMC lately, with new members, special instructor courses, super cool REC takes etc..

In a way, all us instructors and members can all blame ourselves for making such a cool site !

Things like this happens, they are resolved afterwards.
I deal with this day after day because that's my job (I am a developer/architect mostly web)
It takes time. (or just the professionals relax themselves with this at least )

Ohh, server's like pet's, claims the care.

I actually complained to my ISP and blamed them. I'm sure it was their fault somehow!

We will keep looking at how we can improve the site's performance - to avoid these kind of incidents in the future.
