I think you could get a bit of Egyptian vibe if you'd play power chord driven riffs over Phrygian mode/scale notes.
Here is a cool lesson for inspiration: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Around-The-World-Egypt/ You could try using the same scale for power chord riff construction and lead, to stay on the safe side. When it comes to lead, besides scale choice the interpretation is important in order to transfer the oriental vibe. Try incorporating lots of trills and hammer-on>pull-off licks played half step apart. Sinisa's lesson is a great example of this. With oriental vibe I think these embellishments are more important than actual note choice. When playing quick trills, you can pretty safely use "wrong" notes as well because you won't really play and keep sustained those "outside of the scale" note for too long, rather they will be more like passing notes. Please let me know how this goes, I'm interested to hear the results -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net

or will it not matter as long as I stay in that scale? Exactly, you can do what you want as long as you are playing in that scale. |
