You don't have to get it up to 100 BPM! If you can record yourself playing at 65 BPM I would like to hear it!

Good job!!!! I would suggest to practice it at a slower tempo and make sure you have a full control over your hands! This exercise will help you develop picking and work on chord tones!

Let's work on this chord progression than! If we will analyze the first three chords we will get this:
C6 - C - E - G - A
Ami9 - A - C - E - G - B
Dmi9 - D - F - A - C - E
What I want you to do is to write the rest of the chords the same way and I will explain you what you can play over those chords!

The rest is correct!

Now let's analyze the chord progression:
C6, Am9, Dm9, G11, C, Am7 part of C major scale
If we will use numbers we will get:
I - VI - II - V - I - VI
So you can play:
A minor pentatonic


D minor Pentatonic


E minor Pentatonic


C major Scale




I would like you to analyze this part now:
Bm7, D7, G6, G6
Use the same technique that I have been using!

The way I look at this progression is that if there's D7 there, 7 chord is normally the 5th degree of a major (G).
Would I then be more inclined to use the phrygian over the Bm7 as the 3rd mode or is that not the way to analyze it?

You are absolutely correct! And F#m7, B9, E, G7#5 are from E major!
Now I would like you to start practicing using the method I showed you!
To start let's keep it simple!
For the first part C6, Am9, Dm9, G11, C, Am7 play:
A minor pentatonic
For this part
Bm7, D7, G6, G6 E minor/ A minor pentatonic
For the last part F#m7, B9, E, G7#5
E major pentatonic
We will start adding new scales to it every other day!

I use Logic and I think this is the best software for recording! I use it all the time and all my tracks are done through it!
