Hello!!

My name is Joe and I live in the Chicagoland area. Joined GMC a couple of days ago. My hand is already getting a little cramped learning a couple of the lessons!

Guess you can say my guitar playing was in a major rut for many years. No excuses really, just a lack of trying new things and being lazy on guitar. dry.gif Last few months I decided to knock the rust off and playing is fun again. So, just trying to build on this momentum and keep it going!

I appreciate just about anything with cool guitar playing. I could go on and on with influential guitar players...Yngwie, Friedman, George Bellas, Page, Mikael Akerfeldt, Andy LaRoque, Schenker, Billy Gibbons, SRV, Nick Drake, Adrian Smith, Petrucci...also like some acoustic stuffl... old delta blues, Johnny cash, Folk, Classical. I also dig some early 90's death metal. Like i said, I'm all over the place. smile.gif

My guitars: Fender YJM strat, Gibson Les Paul 60's reissue, and my newest a Fender American Start w/ humbucker. Also play a Martin DX1 acoustic. Been mostly playing through a Fender Hotrod deluxe that a got a few month ago. Also have a Laney GH 50 watt head with a Marshall cab.

Welcome to GMC Joe! I"m Todd and I'm on of our instructors here @ GMC smile.gif It's a small world! I used to live in Chicago as well. Right across from the Lincoln Park Zoo in a building called The Webster.

Sounds like you have some very spiff gear! Dive in to the forums, video chats, collabs, and everything else that makes GMC such an amazing place to be. Make sure not to overdo it though as you only have one pari of hands!

Todd

Thanks everyone smile.gif

I've put a good amount of time in learning Petrucci Melodic Solo 2. I've found the Legato Lesson exercise by Muris has been very helpful. I tend to alternate pick everything so this is helping me break the mold. Of course playing with his precision and vibrato is a real challenge! Been playing the ACDC III rhythm by Lucio lesson which rocks.

Yesterday I started working on Paganini Inspiration and your lesson Running Around. Its more walking around right now since I'm in the memorization process. Before that I started warming up with the inside outside picking lesson. Of course their is a ton more I want to get into but I don't want to get ahead of myself. My head is already swimming smile.gif
