It's a grace note
This might not be the best explanation, but a grace note (in this case) is a very short slide, hammeron, pulloff or bend up to the target note. I use a few different graces in this tab. the point of a grace note is to add emphasis and feeling to the note it graces, the next note. A good example a heard somewhere was that a grace note is equal to the colour of the napkins when deciding what to chose from the menue.
