Hi Ben.i really want to improve my picking technique to play fast solos and improve in guitar improvising.ive been practicing alternate picking for a long time but it seems I'm still in a rut.tried several methods but still doesn't work for me.i like and play some songs of joe Satriani,GnR,Metallica,Megadeth,SRV.as for how fast I pick, let's say I can play flight of the bumble bee @ 90bpm cleanly.been playing for 14yrs now. Thanks Cool, ok well we can definitely point you in the right direction to improving your picking technique. I think most of us at GMC have encountered many problems with this technique and also changed the way we pick a few times as well. One thing that transformed things for me was noticing that I wasn't holding the pick close enough to the pointy tip. I thought I was but I wasn't. Not only does holding it closer to the tip mean that there's a stronger grip and less resistance when you hit the string but it also forces your wrist to move more to cross over strings because you can't cheat as much by forcing the pick through with your fingers. What thickness of pick do you use ? Also, have a read of my Practice Journal thread.. I talk about this and another thing that helped me immensely.. https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...t=0&start=0 |
