Matt from Muse shows us a cool scratch on his guitar

Anyone ever tried this technique before? It is really cool and from the video it looks simple..

I had tried it on my guitar but cant produce any sound near his.

Tips from the pros, please?

He is just using the edge of his pick and scratching what sounds like the low E and the A String at various points on the string to differ in sound. He is also probably twisting the pick around to get even more of a scratch

Sure you can do it, it takes practice, thats all. Sit around every day for 10 minutes doing some scratching and by the end of the month you'll have some interesting scratch licks for sure. Also, turn up the volume a bit to hear what you are actually scratching.
