Been meaning to say big-ups to GMC for the lessons I've been practicing on the best Guitar site on the web!
I started Playing music in 1956 when I was eight years old when my mom signed me up in The Columbia Music School - (they came door to door selling music lessons) and I played violin until I was in my teens later studying private lessons with Philip Bergeron
I began playing guitar in 1958 exclusively on acoustic guitars. I first studied Flamenco w/ Jose Caribe in LA then took Jazz/Bossa Nova lessons w/ Howard Heitmeyer on classical guitars and played a lot of folk music in different bands. Studied with Theodore Norman in his first Master Classical Guitar class at UCLA in '68 . Around 1972 I picked up a Martin D28 at McCabes Guitar Shop in Santa Monica which I've played over the years.
When I returned from Guatemala Peace Corps in 1971 I got a recording gig with A&M Records as engineers assistant and worked on sessions with Henry Lewy for Joni Mitchell (Court & Spark) and Joan Baez ( her spanish album) among others. That was a coveted gig in LA since a lot of the super star bands recorded at the studio.
I've recently become enamored with an electric Ibanez Artist Series semi hollow body that I picked up in the 80's but rarely played. Now with your online lessons I'm beginning to get scales, took me a long time to do this and it's been really satisfying. Still have some chops from the old days and they are improving as I pay attention to daily practice..
So Many Thanks, Gratitude and Big-Ups to the GMC community of teachers and players. I'm really getting a lot of enjoyment from the lessons.. and hope to collaborate with others when I get some more chops up to speed.
Happy Holidays to All
