Sorry for my late answer, I have not been online for some days...
About recording several amps to get one guitar track in the end, all amps should be set up normally, that means every amp is connected to a cabinet, you don't run 2 or more amps and only use one cab. If possible the cabinets should be set up in different rooms so they don't interfere with each other, if you only have one room then set them up in different corners at least, with the speakers pointing away from each other.
About what amps to use, well, that depends of course on what amps you have available. We collected many different amps over the years, so we can choose from various Boogies, Engls, Marshalls or Soldanos, but we sometimes even uses Amp Farm or a Pod to get a certain sound. When you for example have to similar amps, lets say 2 Marshalls, then try to use them with different settings, to get a wider range of frequencies, it doesn't really make sense to use 2 equal amps with similar settings, but the best is if you experiment a bit with this.

About mixing solos, first of all, in my opinion there is absolutely NO rule telling you what to do and what not to do, as long as you like something, go for it and do it. There are many examples of solos that are not panned in the middle, take Judas Priests "The Sentinel" for example, where Tipton and Downing have this kind of duell, one is panned left, the other one is panned right and it works perfectly fine. I agree though, if there is just one guy playing a solo and the solo only has one voice, I would also put this in the middle. But as soon as you work with harmony voices you can pan them in all kind of ways, depending on what you like. I just don't like such rules telling you what you HAVE to do, if we would all follow such rules all albums would sound exactly the same, that would be pretty boring ;-)

About reproducing album sounds live, well, this is a completely different world. We strictly separate between playing live and recording something, in the studio we record whatever we feel like recording, and if this should be 6 rhythm tracks and 20 lead guitars on top, then we will do that. Of course we can't reproduce this life, cause on stage we are only 2 guitarists, so what we do is we have to rearrange every song for a playing live. We just have to find out what are the most important voices for each part and then play those ones, so sometimes Andre and me will both play rhythm, sometimes we will both play lead and sometimes I stick to rhythm while he plays lead, and if works perfectly fine like that.

And finally about your tone, well, you saw it yourself, the tone really comes from your fingers, of course equipment helps and can definitely improve your tone, but it can't give you what your fingers don't have

PS: Before I forget, back to using several amps at the same time, make sure you use a proper tool to split your signal, if you want to ue 2 amps I would recommend something like the Leleh P-Split for example, this is what I am using in my live-setup, and it works absolutely perfect, no humming, no interferences, no nothing

Haha, Marcus Sir I have been trying to get your tone for 6 months since I joined GMC, and just now found this thread! Awesome. I have been trying to figure out what you do to get that robotic rumble punch (man, only way I know to describe it), and been thinking the key is in how you set your mids... but I have this thread to tweak with, so glad you made it.

Hi Tucker, congratulations, I like your sound a lot! The mids indeed play a big role when you want a serious punch, specially the low mids.
You can play around with them a bit, and see how they affect your sound, but seriously, I would't mess too much with that sound of yours, I really like it

Ah, thank you Good Sir! I kid you not, to have a successful, not to mention famous professional guitarist tell me he likes my tone, is gratifying in the highest degree. For real Marcus, thank you - very motivating! I shall heed your advice and not tweak it too much. Just a few things I read in this thread that sound good. I'll put up a video soon for some much needed feedback!
