I'm going to have to say no I didn't like it....but I'm still pretty much on the fence with that type of vocals. Props to her though as it's a tough thing to do.

A lot of people are suprised when they realize she's a woman. I was too at first. But the important thing for me is can she do the job. She sure can. So at the end of the day the fact she's a woman is irrelevant to me.
Well until I see one of their videos. She's easier on the eyes than a hairy sweaty guy. As for the harsh vocal style, it took me a long time to get used to it also. Albums like Carcass' Heartwork, Believer's Dimensions and Anacrusis' Suffering Hour were the beginning for me in '93. You just have to find a harsher vocal style than you are used to, and go slowly. Maybe a combination of harsh and clean vocals might be a good way to start. Something like amorphis or Opeth (Yes another Opeth recommendation -------------------- ![]() There are 2 types of people in the world: consumers and creators. Which one are you? |

Shes not a bad singer, or frontwoman.
I do think they could have got someone with a more articulate growl and scream than her though, can't help but feel the decision may have been slightly influenced by the novelty factor of having a female who growls. -------------------- |

She puts so many male death metal/(i dont know what genre arch enemy is) vocalists to shame. I really like Arch Enemy. Good stuff, and great to see a female making it in this kind of music.
Edit: I listened to an Arch Enemy song followed by a Carcass song the other day and thought, wow this guy sounds weak compared to Angela. And then i heard the solo and started thinking, what could Muris do here.... and i just went off day dreaming and took me a while to get back to reality but... ahhh Ok I should be elsewhere right now. Edit 2: P.S you know I have been drinking when I rant... This post has been edited by Hemlok: Dec 10 2007, 12:41 PM -------------------- ![]() |

There boring. No offense to the fans. John Tardy beats everyone in the most possessed, satanic, screams of torture when it comes to death metal vocalist's.

Edit 2: P.S you know I have been drinking when I rant... I personally dont agree with this at all, I can ALWAYS tell the difference between a male metal and a female metal vocalist - without fail, Angela's distorted vocal is always thinner on the air than any male growler you care to mention, the only thing its really got going for it is that it sounds different, but she has no ability to do any other vocal style either and considering metal is all about variety - that sucks. She's always been Arch Enemy's gimmick. -------------------- Don't Panic.
