pretty much what i thought of the album. its leaps and bounds ahead of that last piece of garbage they released (i still can't believe I ran out and bought st. anger on the release date without previewing any of it! luckily the music store gave me a decent trade-in value on it) but still way behind the 80's albums in both originality and and appreciable musical talent.

Metallica is in pain from being ran over by a lot of bands over the last 10 years.

They simply can't catch up.

And they aren't trying very hard.

If this is what they want to do musically, then they should. But they need to stop calling themselves the kings of metal. THat crown isn't on their heads. Hasn't been for a while now.

i know what you mean. in an interview i have, they called themselves "the Heaveist band ever" huh.gif ,
and went on to say,
"Death Magnetic is going to be the fastest, most brutal metal record ever, its the best weve ever done. it'll show the world were still the best metal band ever. "
rolleyes.gif huh.gif .
their opinions of themselves are VERY high, aparrently. they are not, and never have been, the "best metal band ever", as there is no "best Metal band".

WTF???

Death Magnetic is going to be the fastest, most brutal record metal record ever = It isn't. Not even close. Anthrax's "Fistful Of Metal" is way faster and it came out in 1983. I cant even begin to list the "more brutal" albums....

Tts the best weve ever done. = I think 99% of their fans will disagree here.

it'll show the world were still the best metal band ever. = rrrrrrrright. I've read dozens of reviews. And the common theme I keep reading is "It doesn't suck".

I agree with what you said in the review. It's a decent record, but not what they promised.
