As you know, this week, it's all about funk, so we have not one but two funky collabs for all of you who are interested!
This second collab will be the lead one. Your assignment and goal here should be to compose a guitar solo that will fit into this type of a backing track. Couple of notes for easier understanding:
- The backing is funk type of backing
- Backing is 100 bpm
- Backing is in the key of E
- I used E7, E9, E11 chords over this
- You can use E minor pentatonic/E dorian/E blues/E minor (and other scales)
Have Fun(k)!
Singed up participants so far:
1. kaznie_NL
2. Sensible Jones
3. ukyo
4.
Awesome! I read video collab on the front page, but here it's nowhere to be found will this be a video collab?
I'm in I gues, don't want to miss your week's collab
I'm in! Right, time to start practice strutting my Funky Stuff!!
Hi, I want to join. when is the due date?
Hi Ivan,
I am so so so sorry for this late reply and uploading. I had to study for my phd exams and because of that I cut off all my connections with the world for nearly 2 months. So, I couldn' t study guitar in this period. I hope you forgive me
However, I tried my best and recorded a solo. I did many mistakes and my fingers got tired so much.

I really wish I was around back when this went down!! I absolutely LOVE the funk, and it's mainly what I play. Anyway, I'll cross my fingers that "Funk Week 2: Funkier Week!" comes around soon.
A big thanks to Ivan, for bringing the funk! It seems like metal is the most popular style here at GMC, so I personally appreciate the guys going out of their way to bring Funk, Country, Blues, and Jazz lessons to the table as well. Not that I'm going to avoid the Metal entirely!!
So Ivan....is it time for another funky collab?
