I just got my les paul a little bit ago biggrin.gif Very excited. It was on sale minus $100 at my local guitar center so I got it for $850 tax included. Thats a steal. Check it out:

oooh, that's a nice guitar

let's check... yep, its a gibson. made in the usa.

that's a nice wood finish! beautiful!

and it comes with an awesome hardshell CASE!?

What a bargain tongue.gif It plays great, sounds great, looks great. It doesn't have a smooth finish like most guitars, rather it's a matte sealed wood finish. In other words it feels kind of like your computer desk, but a bit smoother. A nice chunk o' wood though. I love this, theres nothing impractical about this guitar. The finish is worn/faded brown mahogany. They also have it in cherry, but I feel this one is far better. The pictures you find on the net generally don't do it justice, this is a beautiful guitar.

I say get yourself one while you can biggrin.gif

Just to make you ill (how did your hand come out btw?).........

I got my Mahogany for $600. But it was a weird deal. Some outfit had them for sale at that price just a few days. I had Guitar Center price match it. These were actually a Guitar Center/sister company deal. What I figured was that they bought them in bulk somehow at a discount, and were trying to get into the market. But Guitar Center put a stop to it I think after a number of people did the price match.

But to the point, this is a SUPER guitar. Has a very unique sound, gets great pinch harmonics. I also have an expensive Les Paul Standard reissue btw. These Mahogany's really are nice, different from a Maple Les Paul in sound, but still good sustain. Hard to describe the tone. I would guess strong in the mid range and medium high treble range, not as much in the bass. They have been described as having a "woody" sound.

edit: it has the burstbucker pickups, same as on a standard btw. they are modeled after PAF pickups. Really like them.

Then you're lucky, but I still think $850 is a great price for this guitar.

So theres three of us who have it eh? Cool tongue.gif
