Original lesson: Expanding The Basic 12 Bar Blues by John Hatcher

Here it goes my first take on this lesson. I've been working on it for a couple of weeks and it's been a lot of fun. I'll probably keep practicing it just for pleasure :)

Hi Nether! Great to see Your take over this lesson Overall it's a good job. But...let me point some details that need to be improved. Timming - it could be more precise with the drum beats. You could try to play full triplets to practice where exactly those accents are. Also lick like 0:9 try to play it harder so they sound more like a "one, solid piece". 0:23 I think the guitar can be tuned bit more precise. Open strings are not always trust worth. Try to tune the guitar with the strength You use to play while doing this take. About 0:30 - try to fucus on muting unwanted strings. Well done

I'm glad you're having fun with this lesson and I'm excited that you posted it here in the REC. It takes guts to be critiqued.

Let me start out by saying you've definitely done a solid job!

I will second what Darius said about the timing. Really focus on the 2's and 4's of each measure, this is where the snare hits on the drums. You don't have to hit the strings harder or anything like that. Simply focusing on the 2 and 4 beat will get the pulse of shuffle blues in your bones!!

Doing that will really make the swing come alive. Of course every beat of every measure is important, but to me, the "up" beat gives this piece its groove.

Pay close attention to the top of the measures when you come back into the rhythm part after playing a lick. The real key to this lesson is getting the switch between rhythm and lead parts to sound very fluid. It's tricky but you're almost there. Keep practicing this and I'm sure you'll have the timing down in no time.

By the way, good job on the licks over the A chord. You've got those sounding sweet.

Hi Nether! This lesson is a very good choice for working on groove. It seems to be simple but it's not easy to play it with the correct groove and feel. As the other guys said, there are some sections that must be adjusted to sound better, tighter and groovy.

Work on sections as loops until you are 100% comfortable with the different parts and then record a new take for the REC.
