The principles of our Army are: + Improve your technique + Make music and solos + Have fun + Destroy the enemy (hahaha not realy just kidding... ) info about my self - HI My real Name is Kevin Ive been playing Guitar for about 2years 3months im 22 now , i play alot of video games when i have the time and I really have a passion for music, wasnt until later after I had picked up a guitar that I Discovered my dad played the piano and my grandfather played the guitar and I thought that was completely coincidence that I picked it up because up until i was 16-17ish a thought of playing a guitar never crossed my mind until I started playing guitar hero lol (sounds silly I know) long story short I heard the song ""Soothsayer" by Buckethead and I was like wow , what if i could play that song for real " Musical taste" I listen to alot of instrumental rock, blues, post rock, Ambient music . "Influences" - to sum it up Buckethead and Joe Satriani (Big big fan of BUCKETHEAD) i do like other artist's such as andy james andy timmons and guthrie govan but the biggest influences i always go back to buckethead who's my biggest and joe satriani(when he plays lydian). So between BH and JS I would like to develop my own music personallity with elements of both artist's (Buckethead - nottingham lace) and (Joe Satriani - Time ) lol my strengths - I've been complimented alot on my rhythm I think I might have good rhythm, and I feel at my point in playing I can play or achieve something within my reach of course with practice i feel i can play almost anything . of course there are songs that are completely beyond me like shredding (which I would like to learn more of ) My weakness - the ability to play clean when im playing with distortion or alot of gain, atm I rely on a mixture of a hair bow on my guitar a, turning my volume knob on the guitar down alittle and raising the noise gate on my amp. would love to get better at playing clean. I have a youtube channel "markway16" here are some links rock metal I link a video of my playing Improvising rock/solo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nL9f7Pm6BVY&feature=g-upl Improvising blues solo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_hD2Pa4SGw...&playnext=3 this video i play alittle rhythm n lead https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJ3euRjFUhI...&playnext=1 and this last link tryng to play in the style of Ambient buckethead https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_bdUI92Qcc...nel&list=UL Goals I've been working on improvisation would like to get better at it Technique, phrasing, shredding and would like learn more about buckethead style This post has been edited by Vulpine: May 25 2012, 04:08 AM |

Hi mate! Thanks for this complete post about you!
I also like Buckethead a lot so I've been listening a lot to his music. I love his shreddy style but I mostly enjoy his weird effect tunes and his ambient albums. Regarding his Shred playing, we should go for Paul Gilbert stuff since he has been his teacher and also a big influence for him. The most ambient stuff comes more from his soul and the things that will help you to understand it will be to learn and analyse the chord progressions, melodies and scales that he uses. Please check my Intensive Guitar Course, starting with the Warming up and Endurance exercises to create together a good diary routine to start training the different techniques. We should also choose any musical lesson to learn and then record for the REC program, do you have any in mind? Finally check out my new collab called "Ambient Bucket Collab"... would you like to join? -------------------- My lessons

Hi man! Check out these exercises in the style of Gilbert, and also Buckethead.
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...showtopic=42831 Regarding following chords.... have you seen the video Melodic control by Marty Friedman? It's very important to learn the triads and the arpeggios in the whole fret-board to be able to follow the chords when you are soloing. Do you have experience with this? -------------------- My lessons

Nice tune mate. I think that you should work a bit more on the phrases to make the melodies more defined and memorable. Have you work on those Friedman's concepts?? What knowledge do you have about scales, arpeggios, triads?
Some technique work... Alternate Picking exercises and maybe Sweep Picking could also add more to your playing if you want to add more shred licks. Have you checked my Intensive Technique Course? https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...showtopic=42832 -------------------- My lessons

You have a good background. Are you now working on some GMC lessons? Could you start with the ITC? Check out the Warming up, and the alternate picking lessons.

Today I've practice "class 1 and 2 " pretty much all day , that and theres one "modal Madness " video i've been working on for the past 4 months (the paul gilbert style one) . but other then that this weekend I've totally focused on shredding exercises n anything thing I can find on "buckethead style shred" lol Cool! Those modal madness series are really cool! Do you think that you could record yourself playing one of those lessons? -------------------- My lessons

Ok mate, this is your take:
Those hands want to go fast! I think that you will be able to shred your fretboard soon if you do some hard work every day. The two things to pay attention here are: hands sync and muting other string for avoiding unwanted noises. I think that you have to isolate each of this patterns and practice them slowly with metronome. It doesn't help to practice faster than you can, you have to be slightly over the tempo that you feel comfortable and do lots of repetitions. Check out the patterns from my Intensive Technique Couse and incorporate them into your diary practice and let's start working on this lesson: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guit...picking-thirds/ -------------------- My lessons
