On my past two acoustic guitars, I cannot seem to bend my G-string a full step. For instance I cannot bend the 7th fret up a full step to an E. I have to almost break the string I bend it so hard, and even then it doesn't yield a full step.

Any suggestions?

That's weird! Two different guitars?? Maybe it's the quality of the strings... what brand do you use?

Hey Brandon, I never tried such a thing, as the acoustic guitar is not quite meant for that sort of stuff, but maybe lighter strings would help?

The first guitar was an old 1970's Yamaha acoustic with extra light strings. The second one I have now is a Taylor 414-CE with medium Elixirs on it.

I always find it difficult to bend that string on an acoustic as well! I think it's just the nature of the strings on that instrument
