GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Lick Of The Day

Posted by: Kristofer Dahl Apr 7 2011, 03:43 PM

The new http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/lick-of-the-day-v2/blues/ has been rolling for a while - and we are planning to have new licks in other genres as well.

It'd be great to know if you guys have used this feature, and what you think of it!

I'm busy with other material, considering now there is an archive that we can always watch I can "leave this stuff for later use" and don't try to learn it/copy it before it disappears.

I check it every day, but didn't learn any licks yet. This is cause I'm not that interested in Blues stuff...and I am waiting for hard rock / metal licks of the day wink.gif

Haha, blues is the only music I can really play, so yes, I do use it! Every morning I wake up the first thing I do (aight, coffee first) is grab my guitar and learn the new lick. Morning practice. laugh.gif

Great routine man! smile.gif Learning new lick every day will mean a lot for your licks vocabulary and improvising skills! smile.gif

Thnaks a lot for the feedback - personally I love the format as it's so quick. I can learn something new in just one minute - in best case that new thing might inspire you to add a whole new ingredient to your style, write a song etc etc

I think it's a really cool idea - fast and useful for any guitarist! No matter your level, you can incorporate different licks into your playing and later use them in jam sessions. They stay somewhere in the back of your mind - you never know when you might need them biggrin.gif

i love it chris, especially because its blues. fine exercises if put into a improvisation.

I think the Lick of the Day is a great idea, but more focused on the freebee and new users of the site. I use to use it alot when I first found this site, now just visit it ever now and then.

I'm guessing it's For The Win... laugh.gif

We want more licks! It's a great format and a good way to hook new people to the site. I remember when I didn't have an account the reason I came here everyday (besides the best lessons) was the Lick of the day... and frankly I remember wishing there were more of them.

I'd love to see some Jazz and Country licks too. smile.gif (even though this format isn't easy to implement in Jazz...)
