If you would start a new band now... what style would it be?

I almost only listened to power metal this last month.
Maybe it's just a phase.

I played in a poprock band, and I got bored. So definately some metal.

Oh yeah, I've got phases too...at the moment it's pop-punk...then Death Metal will come again, then power metal, then prog... laugh.gif
But when I think about performing live, punk would be the most fun for me.

yes, it's difficult to choose only 1 style... it has been difficult for me too... thanks to GMC lessons I can explore many different styles without forming a band for every one. smile.gif

Probably Death Metal but with clean singing, some Electronica / Folk and Medieval elements smile.gif

Hard Rock or Black Metal smile.gif

Southern Metal smile.gif

Anything in the metal or hard rock style. Perhaps variate into the gospel style. I would want our main purpose to glorify God. And of course, I would want us to have fun with some songs and just write funny or crazy songs too. I would want mainly songs with normal vocals, and every now and then scream or growl. I like bands such as Demon Hunter, Red, Skillet, and Red Seas Fire.

Good old Hard Rock smile.gif !!

Posted by: rokchik Nov 5 2011, 11:15 PM

Hard Rock... or maybe an Irish band smile.gif

Posted by: The Uncreator Nov 6 2011, 12:46 AM

Well I'm doing a Progressive Death Metal thing now, with lots of orchestras, synths, and ambient stuff. If I wasn't doing that, suppose I would do a Prog Rock type of thing, something instrumental maybe with obscene amounts of synthesizers.

What about something like these guys

Melodic hardcore (the band are all christians, but don't class the band as a Christian band, but their lyrics are still influenced by their faith)

Posted by: Cosmin Lupu Nov 6 2011, 11:52 AM

I would do EXACTLY what I'm doing right now smile.gif Alternative metal with a lil' bit of prog and djent sprinkled on top biggrin.gif strong clean vocals and super angry screams!

On the other hand, I'd go for an acoustic project with guitars and traditional instruments tongue.gif I am going to do that next year anyway with some friends, oh, and this chick (my vocal trainer) who convinced me to help her out with this little acoustic thing tongue.gif

I found what I'd do!

I love so many styles - I'd have to start several bands. But the Opeth (Danmation style) would be high on my list -

Posted by: Bogdan Radovic Nov 9 2011, 02:43 PM

I would probably go for modern rock/punk type of band with melodic clean vocals smile.gif

Posted by: Ivan Milenkovic Nov 9 2011, 04:09 PM

Stoner rock, fusion or blues cool.gif
