Hello guys! In thishttp://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=43098about instructor's armies, ninjas, spies, secret conspiracies, and many other things that are happening in these GMC dark days , I had the idea to start my own Army to join forces and create the most unique guitar players of the world.
The idea is to assign lessons every week directly related to your tastes, ability and weaknesses. Work on it, give you exercises and feedback to improve and master it. We will use the REC program to also get other instructor's feedback and also will join some collabs to work on theory and improvisation.
Is there any interested in being mentored by me to be part of this Army. I accept everybody that is interested, even spies that already belong to other armies.

Since I'm a double-agent already I might as well become a triple-agent
So, I'd love to join and I think you already know that my favourite music is punk in all it's forms and I love writing my own punk stuff and recording SI lessons in the style of german bands....so maybe this gives us a good place to start

Cool mate!! Yeah, we have similar music taste so the journey will be amazing. I can also help you with the SI lessons.
I'll start a new thread for any other the members of this Army as soon as I know how many interested we have...
Also.. you can write here some ideas that you have regarding this.. the goal would be to make something big together... so, please post here all the ideas and expectation no matter how dreamy they are...

An idea would be to make a Gab's Army song together, where everyone of your soldiers is involved in the songwriting and so on. Dreamy stuff? We could form 1 or 2 Gab's Army bands that will record an entire album, fly to Argentina and be the supporting bands for a show headlined by Cirse

Composing something together was one of my ideas.. I'd love to do it... so collabs or virtual bands should be a part of this army. Keep on the dreamy ideas coming! Nothing is impossible.

Hi Ulrik! The army will officially begin tomorrow... I'll start a thread for every member and there we will work together. I have been planing how this army should work. At first we work on 1 lesson every week, that should be post in the REC, and we will choose 1 or 2 collabs to join. I also want to have Army's collabs and work on a full song composition of your own in your favourite style. These are the first thoughts about how the army will work.
By the way you could start preparing a text about you, with your influences, goals, gear, software used for recording, videos of you playing and any composition (if you have).
Is there any other user interested to join?

Hey, count me in!!
I've been working through Ben's Bushido class, which I've really enjoyed and actually feel like I've made significant progress just in my short time with him. My plan is to try and learn what I can from all of the different instructors here and I absolutely love the "free range" feel this site has but it's very nice to be able to go to these structured areas to really focus in. My personal opinion is that this is where progress can be made the quickest, at least for me.
Anyway, thanks for offering this Gabriel, I'm looking forward to it!! Let me know what you need from me.

I'll create your thread tomorrow and I'll send you a PM with the link. There we will discuss the direction of our job together.

Hey Gabriel
Have you room in your army for one more.
I've asked permission from Sensei Ben to leave his Dojo. I am seeing him on a monthly basis instead to work on lead techniques as I was finding the weekly challenges to time consuming for me to get them to where I was happy.
I'd like to work on Rhythm work with you
While I like listening to bands like Story of The Year, Close Your Eyes, A Day to Remember, Rise Against etc I have no real experience playing it and working out the different rhythm guitar part that are layered, or composing similar tracks myself, though it is where I want to be.

Hey Mate i'd like to be a part of this if there is still room. Ben's Bushido was very good, but i didn't have enough time to smash out the weekly lessons and get them to a respectable level due to time constraints. But things are getting better now....
My Tastes.... Metal and Rock. Lead guitar is my main focus, so my weak point would be Heavy tasty rhythm's and composing an entire song. Also LEGATO is something i want to be good at.... And finding my way around the fretboard... would be my biggest issue. I'd like to be a good improviser one day....
The Artists i am into are: Andy James, Marco Sfogli, Nuno Bettencourt, Andy Timmons, Bullet for my Valentine EVH etc.... I need to focus in 1 direction instead of playing and learning 6 different things at once. In GMC level's i can do lvl4-5 and by the end of the year I would like to be a comfortable level 5 player and move into the lvl 6 world of awesomeness....
Thanks

Posted by: Cassien Mar 14 2012, 04:40 AM
Hi gab, Private Cassien reporting for duty!
So, a bit about me, I'm 33, from France but I leave in Texas. I've been playing guitar on and off for about 15 years. I've dabbed into classical, electric and acoustic. I took half a year of lessons when I started and then that's about it. I mostly screw around and come up with stuff. To give you an idea of my level I embedded two videos of stuff I came up with in the past few years. I haven't really learned any new music in about 10 years or so, and It's probably been a good 5 years since I've had a serious sit down with an electric guitar. So my technique is pretty limited, speed is could improve a lot, and I lack clarity in my phrasing (lots of empty string ringing when I play), and I'm severely limited in what I know.
As far as style goes, I enjoy pretty much everything, I tend to be more on the bluesy side when I solo, but I think that's mostly because the only scales I ever learned were the pentatonic ones.
Anyway, that's about it! Glad to be on board, C.

As you will notice, i'll have to spend some time at the training camp before you can send me to fight behind the enemy lines, but the day will come
I feel that my weaknesses are the tecnique and the tempo, and i think that my strenght is my knowledge of theory (at least compared to my hability to use it ). I already know the major, minor and blues scales, but while improvising i don't sound as i wish
Some of the groups i would like to emulate in the battlefield are:
Hard Rock: Led Zeppellin, Guns And Roses, Deep Purple, Foo Fighters... Alternative / Grunge: Pixies, Nirvana, Pearl Jam... Metal: Metallica, Rhandy Roads (playing like him has to be awesome!), Dark Tranquillity, Nightwish, Blind guardian, Dio....
Well, there are lots of great musicians out there and i don't want to bore you
Now i'm at your command...

Hi and welcome to Gab's Army mate! I heard the samples and yes! we have lot of work to do! Please post all this info at your new thread: http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=43859

most definitely want to join. I dig your work, you have brought me a lot further in the last year, than I have gotten in years before. I am trying to get past the transition of slow to the fast playing, I am hoping you can help me through this. Thanks for all the time you put into this.

Hi Jerry!! I'm very glad of reading this post! I created your own thread for Gab's Army. Check it out here:
I've been lurking as a quiet member here for awhile, now.. but after finally checking out a few of your lessons and finding out about this army business, I'd love to give it a go!
My name's Jason, but you can call me Mack, after my last name MacNeil. I'm turning 30 this month, and I still consider myself very much an amateur/beginner on guitar. I've taken a few lessons in person, and I don't have many people in my area to jam with, so I'm throwing myself at the mercy of your army!
I'll post a video of some stuff I can do currently in a bit so you can check out where I'm at, I'm kind of in a jam where I don't really know what to work on! I'm currently working on your HIM lesson (level 2) and will be taking on the edguy one (level 3) next!
My favorite bands and influences are mostly power metal bands. Blind Guardian, Edguy, Elvenking, Falconer, Hammerfall, ect. ect. ect.
Are your old group video chats archived anywhere?
Thanks!

I would like to join your army.... I am learning theory with Alex and follow ben´s bushido (although I am weeks behind) but I really wanna learn with you, too cause I tried a lot of your lessons and I really like them... My only problem is, that in most cases I cannot do videos - I practice at night and often when I am on trips with my boss br-80 - so audio recording is no problem ..... so... if you need another warrior please let me know!

I like to join your army and enhance my guitar playing. I've been playing since I was 13, but stopped for around 12 years and just got back on track again last year at the age of 31. I'm now 32 and would love to take my playing to the next level and I think learning from you would be the best step since I like your style and most of your lessons.
So far, I consider myself as an intermediate player but with very little knowledge on theory especially scales and improvisation. I also developed an unorthodox playing technique and would love to correct it. I think also need to work on my hand synchronization and picking accuracy. Other than that, I think my playing is decent enough.

Hi Gabriel,
I've given considerable thought to joining an instructor's mentoring program, and because of my time constraints, I am limited to joining only one. As such, if you have room (looks like you have quite a few people under your thread), I would like to join your "army" so to speak.
A Little about myself - I have been playing guitar on/off for about 5 years or so. I started when I was 19 and stopped around 21 when I took up sports and got married. 18 years later, I had to give up sports due to work obligations that didn't allow me to pursue my normal 3 day/week practice regimen. I can't not have a hobby - I am driven to pursue things I am interested in to see how well I can become. I picked up the guitar again about 3 years ago and haven't put it down. After playing a year alone doing mundane scales and exercises, I realized they were getting me nowhere because they lacked musical context. I found a studiio near my work that forms bands so I joined and have been playing in a band context for about 2 years now, having done about 10 shows and about 100 open mics. We are currently a trio and I'm the singer as well. Playing and singing are very challenging! But I love performing.
I feel very limited in my ability to convey what I want to hear onto my guitar. I'm hoping you can help guide me in pursuing those aspects of my playing that I lack.
I don't desire to be a shredder type of player - I want to be able to take a strong solo with fluid feel and add fast runs where appropriate and land on bends that climax the solo. I'm all about taste with a touch of flair.
Bands I love: Opeth - side 1: Lamenations Dream Theatre David Menaketti : (2:15) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=woxcM5YTtPI&feature=related Steve Vai - there is only song by him I like - Tender Surrender Iron Maiden - still life Jason Becker - Altitudes
Basically - songs with feel that can climax with strong and fast solos. It's the transitions to fast runs then back-out to slow soulful bends I really want to focus on. Learning good short burst runs, quick tasteful licks that exit to tasteful playing.
I feel I have a mediocre grasp of taste - I know what sounds good and can emulate the feeling in bends and tone to a certain point (there's always room for growth), but what I lack are the technical skills to jump into fast runs then pull out again. That's what I hope to practice.
I found several lessons on GMC I'm looking interested in - not the entire lesson, but small pieces of runs that interest me. If you have recommendations and can help me stick to a lesson plan to develop these, I would be a happy camper.
these are the lessons I've been looking at: all well above my skill level, but contain licks I'd like to try to bring up to a decent speed. Hi Gabriel! I'm very interested in joining your army. I am a metal guy. I would like to improve my rhythm skills my phrasing my overall technique (a newby to legato and sweep picking) and developp melodic ideas in my improvisations. Here's a little piece I made two months ago that shows where I am right now.
Thanks!

Hi Rhida! Gab's Army is always open for metal guys!!
I'm writing while I listen to your track and I'm starting to note the first thing that we have to work to start polishing your guitar playing. The idea is that we design a routine that takes your guitar technique to a new level in the next months, and also develop your ear and theory concepts.
Id love to join, i think this could be something awesome.

Hey man, your lessons have been a huge inspiration for me to keep on practicing! I would love to join your army, and my long term goal is to play original neo-classical songs (interesting melodies, high tempo alternate picking/sweep picking/string skipping, wide vibrato, bends etc)
My shorter term goal is to being able to play these at full speed:
for the past month after joining GMC I've been playing guitar for every day almost all the time (5 hours+ a day maybe) and I've seen some pretty good results Changed from very bad economy picking into alternate picking which is starting to flow really well.
Hey Gab! Maybe I'm too late but I'm looking for a mentor to maybe help get rid of my crutches. Your soundcloud tunes pop up here and there and I love them!
Within a couple weeks or month I'll be auditioning to be 1 of 4 guitarist for a pro gig with a symphony. There is a year practice for 3 shows. From what I've gathered it's pretty technical and precision is what this guy wants. Even if I don't get it there are still a few issues with me that is like to work solidly on. Maybe you have better suggestions for lessons after seeing me play or maybe you have seen enough.
Anyways thanks!

Hi Gabriel. Can I join to your army?. I am new at this site and I am still a bit lost. I am Currently working on some neoclassical lessons and I love some of yours. I hope to be able to publish soon a REC take.
PD- Sorry for my English ,I can undertstand it perfectly, but I can't communicate very well with it.
